No matter how many modern, big budget 'killer shark films' have come out, with special FX, CGI, Bikini Babes, etc. None will ever match Jaws for it's simplicity, suspense, dramatic storyline, musical score, top-notch acting and sheer terror!

Try Seal Island, a small land mass located 5.7 kilometres off the northern beaches of False Bay, near Cape Town in South Africa. The island is so named because of the great number of Cape fur seals that occupy it. It is 5 acres in area and home to 64,000 cape fur seals. And .. notorious for it's Great White Sharks. Some years back, the daily Maritime Coastal Patrol nicknamed one of the 'regulars' in the Bay, 'the Bus'.

It's interesting how the 2 experts of the party made the biggest mistakes which caused them to face their later trials. Hooper disadvantages them by trying to one up Quint with his new technology, costing Quint the killshot. And Quint disadvantages them by destroying the radio and pushing the boat engine too far, ultimately leading to its breakdown. The Chief is the only one to do everything right, eve though he was completely out of his depth, and scared of the ocean

Quint foreshadowed his death when he described his Indianapolis experience. He spent his life since WW2 killing sharks to honor his fallen brothers. Hooper survives in the end so I don’t really think he “faced his fate,” as you described. I do admire a later scene when Quint and Hopper attack the shark in the way their profession and lives taught them to. Brody being completely a fish out of water, does what he is trained for, and draws a gun to shoot the great white. Reminds me Spielberg’s later Raiders scene, the showdown between a sword expert and Indy, who proceeds to draw his pistol and blow the guy away.
@rowanmelton7643
@rowanmelton7643 2 жыл бұрын
@@HarrisonHollers By "faced their later trials", I meant what happened to all three of them. Even though Hooper didn't die he still went through some shit. Also I heard that scene in Indiana Jones was actually improv'd by Harrison Ford, there was supposed to be a long choreographed fight scene, but they'd had a long day of shooting and he was tired and fed up

@@KansaSCaymanS Though I was too young to see it in the theatre when it first came out, I was scared to go in a pool when I was a kid for some inexplicable, illogical reason.

I also saw it before it made it to all the theaters. I won the tickets on a local radio station in Kansas City, it em was shown on like a Wednesday before the opening on Friday. I was a teenager and it scared me sh_ _ less!

I saw it in the theater as well but well into its run. The big old theater in Sag Harbor NY. My younger brothers had seen it so I knew the kids were playing with the fins on their backs.

I read the book when I was 9. Saw the movie a few years later. I have surfed a place that names the sharks. Fear is the mind killer. More likely to get shot or wreck and die. Live like you mean it when you can. Lots of teeth is kinda dreadful though. Try to remember you probably taste bad.

Fun fact: one of the trophies for GTA 5 is called exactly like this. "You're gonna need a bigger boat" You have to swim far away to ocean and get killed by the shark to achieve this.
