The CSX empty auto rack train was a long train. I wonder if it stayed intact after arriving in Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati and then went on to Louisville, Kentucky to be loaded with new cars. The Norfolk Southern work train that came past was interesting to watch. The rolling steel doors on those box cars make it easier to open and close the doors to get equipment inside the car. The person on the bicycle made the correct decision to abort his attempt to cross the tracks in front of the train. Thank you for this additional video from the Hamilton, Ohio area on 22 September 2023.

Thanks for watching and commenting Thomas! I would guess that the train stayed together on its way to Louisville but I dont know

No doubt the NS crew was telling the dispatcher to keep them moving so they could replace the rail they borrowed yesterday from.CSX. what they don't know doesn't hurt. That backup whistle made me think of a little childhood book I had named "Tootle" and indeed it is ensuring the safe And Timely delivery of all those frozen potatoes up by the power. The first real temps of autumn about to hit this p.m. with brisk winds and some rain. The checkered flag is out and NS wins by a length

Always a nice catch finding a DPU on an autorack, but this one was very long - pretty rare I think. That was a pretty extensive MoW train - there was a lot of equipment! A nice caboose! I would be very alert standing on the caboose platform - those runners would make for some adrenaline rush for sure :)

@@jlvetor123 It is likely that everyone has a different reason for liking DPUs. I am an engineer (the other kind) and the idea of analyzing the stresses on long trains appeals to me. Also, the noise of a hard working DPU appeals to me as well :)

2.50 mile long autorack If I did my math correctly, what a long train. I'm glad the DPU was in there, but also glad that the MOW train was shorter. That's really two major trains for an uncontrolled no gate lights only crossing.. I guess it's because it's at the waterworks. They don't think many people are going to be going on that road.

@jlvetor123 Жыл бұрын
That’s what they sounded like. When you are on that leading end it isn’t loud enough and most people are like you and have never heard one. I think they should have placed a good air horn on the roof of the cabooses. Where the conductor was operating the whistle is also the air brake valve so if needed he can brake the train or dump (big hole) the air for an emergency stop.
