Talk about major flat spot on the wheel. They will have to replace that soon. Did you see the open door on that seaco connex box at 18:40? The green cars are your carbon black cars they come from Cabot Corporation (CAB-O-SIL Division). It's our turn for the snow this weekend with this second storm the Smokies look great with snow on them here in NC. Y ou may get a few inches to then there maybe another storm next weekend. I have a question, Brian. When you see a problem involving a train, do you ever call it in and report it? I'm just curious here in the mountains here in Calif. There are no trains in Lake County. I did grow up with trains in the Bay Area. Hearing them traveling through in the middle of the night blowing their horn was so comforting.

@@JawTooth That's the feeling I got...! You were up there nice and cozy looking out at all the snow and ice.... I must tell you though, early in my career we would get the C&EI GP9's that had floor heaters as opposed to the roof heat (heat comes out from the ceiling) heaters we had on the Gp7's and those floor heaters on those 9's on a cold day really sucked and it would get cold up there in the cab! Oh, and did I mention those darn things were so noisy!!!

One could tell it was the tail end of that storm as the vehicular traffic was extremely low. No doubt some of the trains were running off schedule. Since that first DC to AC conversion on NS think of how many hundreds have followed. A great meet on the Intermodals and the last train had the best set of mixed Freight cars including that cut of 13 flat cars going back for aluminum ingots. With the cold and snow even the local seemed to perform its duties with a sense of urgency. With the temperature at 18 degrees maybe it was warmer inside the cars of potatoes. Actually some hash browns and scrambled eggs sound mighty good about now. Thanks for bundling up and catching these trains

Tank you for documenting these Norfolk Southern and CSX trains at Hamilton, Ohio on 7January 2025 as they ran through the snow that fell in the area due to that gigantic snowstorm that went up t Ohio River Valley from west to eat, Jaw Tooth! You caught some interesting trains in this video. The conductor of the Local must not have used the caboose as a shoving platform. If the Conductor had been on the caboose, he certainly would have known that the one axle on the caboose was not turning properly because of the smell and noise caused by the "frozen" axle. The COSX reporting marks on those green covered hopper cars that appeared at 27:02 belong to the Cab-O-Sil Division of the Cabot Corporation. Cab-O-Sil is a fumed silica that is used as a filler in various applications. (Posted on 9 January 2025 at 1836 CST.)

Hey, Brian. Long time no see. I've been watching you for years, but do to technology issues, well you know how it is. I live between Dayton and Xenia Ohio in Beavercreek. We used to have Penn Centeral and a B & O lines run through here, but they're long gone mamy years ago. The right-of-ways are now bike paths. Sunday into Monday, we got 8 1/2 inches of snow here. Supposed to get another 4 or 5 inches this weekend. Sheesh.
