Hey jawtooth. Your videos have inspired us to rent a place in La Grange to see these street running trains for ourselves. We rented a place right on Main St with a front porch view. I have been watching your videos pretty much daily since i had my first daughter 2.5yrs ago. I ask her every morning "do you want to see what jawtooth is up to today?" and she is always excited for trains. Thanks for all your great videos, they've brought a lot of comfort to this lifelong railfan.

I had heard of this large political rally in 1940 in Elwood Indiana. A concentration of 63 trains to bring in the attendees is something! At that time, Elwood was a major railroad station. Not to be mistaken, I don't think it has ever happened here since. The place is quieter now! Thank you for this evocation.

History is very interesting. Just think of all the trains coming and going. Times have changed a lot there. Thanks for watching !

@@JawTooth Hi, That was very informative. I grew up in a city close to Elwood. In school we learned about the president’s race between those two gentlemen. But I did not know about the trains. I thought you said that the maximum speed for a train going through a city was ten miles an hour. So why did the city allow trains to travel so fast? Approximately how fast was that train going? I have a steam locomotive and a diesel. Since this was taken on October 22 I hope you see this and are able to respond! 🎃

😂Nobody walks here. In the big cities maybe as there us a huge lack of parking. Major cities like New York and Washington DC have underground’s. San Francisco and LA have some. Most cities have a lack of quick transportation. I live in a small Midwest town now and there are buses but it takes a very long time to get anywhere and the clientele on them is not something I would like to be in the proximity of. I lived in San Diego for 56 years and public transport sucks. My daughter didn’t own a car and it literally took her 2 hours to get to work which would have taken 10 minutes by car. In California cities it Is not safe to walk anywhere right now

Norfolk Southern does not pull any punches on that short stretch of street running the Elwood, Indiana! The trains move much faster than the CSX trains through LaGrange, Kentucky even after the CSX engines have passed the street running through the center of LaGrange, Kentucky. That you for the historical footnote about the Wendell Wilkie political rally in Elwood, Indiana. I presume that some of the trains coming into Elwood made multiple trips to Elwood from Indianapolis. Thank you for documenting these trains in Elwood, Indiana and LaGrange, Kentucky, Jaw Tooth!

Your assistant did a fine job of capturing the trains at Elwood still amazing how fast they blow through town. They probably have a special Operation Lifesaver motto. See Track. Think Train. See Cemetary. Go back to statement 1. Surprised that the CSX train did not have the bell ringing as it passed through LaGrange. Everything you can do to get people's attention should be utilized. Always enjoy your train videos and the time and effort you put in to make them. I notice a pattern on videos to turn the camera as the first locomotive is passing by, even with multiple locomotives. Would recommend to wait until the last of the leading locomotives is present to then start moving camera. The excitement and sounds are much better when viewing them coming rather than going. Just my opinion.
