I can see how it happened... after finishing off mixing this beat, he just leaned back on his chair, stared at the reflection of the city on his window at night, while noddin his head to the rythm of the snare exactly after the intro. No expression. He found greatness in Motown music once again and expresses it his own way. No one else is there to listen like always. Another day of greatness for the pioneer, the best of all time.

This chop is the number 1 reason I put J Dilla above DJ Premier, Pete rock, and Kanye as far as pure hip hop production. Dilla could make a beat that sounded like any of those producers. But if you ask each of those same producers if they could duplicate a Dilla beat the answer is a resounding NO. Dilla was in another universe.
@jwizdum21032 жыл бұрын
I respect this take always, but I will say, Dilla was a little more one dimensional even tho he was an absolute master when it came to sample chopping and 'boom bap' drums...but realistically you think he could have made stuff that sounded like sounds from 808's or MBDTF? Not to shit on him at all he's an absolute GOAT, but he never made anything like that in terms of overall sonics

@@jwizdum2103 MBDTF has Dilla all over it sonically in my opinion. Also its not really fair to compare Dilla to Kanye. Kanye has a team of people engineering the sound he wants, especially for 808s and MBDTF where Mike Dean, No I.D., Bhasker had a big part on those beats.
