@@dominicrich All good! If you like it, that's great. For me I was let down by Electronica, he rapped really uninterested on more than half the tracks and talked about hardly nothing. Crazy how he has this opportunity after all these years not releasing work. Just can't take this after all these years, Jay-z featured on every song damn near makes the experience worse imo even though he outperformed Electronica on majority of the tracks. I think maybe Electronica wasn't exactly what we thought he was back then idk..

Honestly, to me this felt like they started out trying to make a joint collab, “Watch The Throne” type of album, and at the last minute they decided to call it his “debut” album. I think Jay(Z) wanted Elec. to get the credit & the royalties for it, cause he’s in a space of trying to empower artists he respects. I think if they would’ve called it a “collab” album, people wouldn’t be so critical...

@@mortezahesamzadeh556 art house RE music transitions from the phrase used for cinema, where movies were made to be creative, experimental, original, unique - rather than just blockbuster hits. In music I guess there is some crossover with the underground or conscious rap but basically Jay Elec is on a different level with the samples, flow & meaning. Art House cinema would be the difference between watching Sin City and Avengers: EndGame - as a quick off the top example. He did have bars and bangers IMO but again that is all down to taste. On this album there are examples of that, but I would agree it is far from his best and he has shown far more potential in the past. Exhibit C and Eternal Sunshine... for instance. Amoung numerous other tracks, if collated, would have made for a better album. RE the waiting time it was a let down, but I'm grateful he put something out. Jay Elec is a top 5 rapper to me. Hov has stayed active and has evolved in sound and in consciousness constantly over the last decade. He's been extremely nimble and adaptable, and introspective while growing wealthier this entire time. Jay Elec has presumably done nothing but sat around and rapped over a few songs a year and hasn't had any artistic development. So of course comparing him to Hov would be like comparing a bicycle to a motorbike.

go bot he’s not a Roth he was fucking one and so what again the material was more so for jay z to make the statement through jay elec. jay z has stood next to high Jewish figures in rap music for awhile but now all of a sudden you align yourself with Farrakhan? Yes jay has made 5% references in the past but the statement is made way clearer on this record. For whatever reason and some of this direction is on 444 as he’s calling dudes out but this is way more aggressive approach. Not only is jay saying I’m standing with the FOI he’s also responding to ppl within his camp (Roc nation) that showed they weren’t with him with the nfl deal with the whole civilization beinging destroyed from within bars on first song. ofcourse Jay-Z is outrapping Jay Elec on here he’s the one that has a point to prove which goes along with what the guy said. We probably would’ve never got a “solo” Jay Elec project if it wasn’t for the purpose of helping jay z say what he had to say.

I concur. It's the programming language of messaging. That's why there were so many mentions of Farrakhan mixed in with ancient words and phrases and sounds. It's for the purpose of waking up a person's inner self. KRS-ONE has been doing this since he's been rapping, Rakim also. There are too many to name. In the end it's them sharing their teachings with us the listeners. I should have said "OUR" teachings (Black People) with us. No offense to anyone else.

Jay Electronica If you can't recognize the difference in his content and most other rap, then you're too far gone anyway. It's the difference between KRS1 and Eazy E....the difference between Public Enemy and 2 Live Crew...the difference between Mos Def and 50 Cent...the difference between Phonte and the imposter Rick Ross...the difference between Lupe Fiasco and Future. Some of the folks I mention offer substance of growth, the others offer substance of self and community destruction. Do you get it, little man?

lnapjr76 you clearly haven’t heard jay z 4:44 that whole album was introspective, even his songs like dear summer , 99 problems (disregard the hook but the lyrics , Moma loved me , watch the throne (minus the radio songs ) , song cry , success ft nas ... list goes on & im nowhere near a jay z fan. He’s ranked as the best because he overcame the stigma of just being a “rapper “ coming from a NY drug dealer to a billionaire with the biggest Urban pop/R&B artist there is . Sounds like a movie when you think about it .

What it makes it worse on Jay Elec’s album is how long it took to come out. With doggystyle, Snoop didn’t take a whole decade to release it. What a stupid and disrespectful comment from a wack zouk singer who has no real singing abilities and never dropped any good lyrics in his whole career. This is the album of Jay Electronica, not Jay-Z. This is the album of an artist who is not a bandwagoner like you, an artist who is full of complexity and spirituality. Nothing you can obviously understand with all the bs music you produced for such a long time. He had all hip hop big names chasing him just after those « Exhibit » records 10 years ago. Never surfed on the buzz tho. Hate it or love it, this is real artistry. At least respect that by giving him to credits/critics HE deverses for HIS album.
