Antm became a trainwreck. Production taught their contestants about branding but the show's branding got lost in the process. They started as molder of girls who wants to become models to becoming a reality show stirring drama for public entertainment.

I have to say that one of the hardest things was watching amazing performances during the photo shoot and then seeing a completely different thing in judging. I remember Jay saying super positive things and then you see a horrible photo. It was super disappointing because we knew that they were intentionally screwing over the contestants.

I think the other issue is Top Model never grew with its audience. Back in the early 2000s reality tv was ALL drama. Like the clips would show a big fight or something to get people to watch. The thing is it got old and the "drama" was just pumped up in commercials. I started straying from watching reality tv all together because of how staged it was. It was losing ratings because it was cringe and seemed so phony. You watch the early cycles and they did some goofy moments but they felt authentic. Edit: Also my fave soundbites were your diamond one and the toast with no butter x)

Yes, they leaned *hard* into the corniness in this season. I liked the girl so I stayed for cycle 18, but that's when I stopped.

I also want to add that I do believe Tyra wanted to make successful models but later on the more successful she got I think her idea got away from her and she was put on a pedestal. I say this is because a magazine (I think it was Times or some other popular one) calling her the next Oprah. It could have gone to her head getting so much success in such a short time. Her talk show started in 05, right around cycle 4 and 5 and landed until around cycle 15. She was still modeling and doing a lot of promotion I believe. So, with her being so busy the execs come in and slither their way in more.

Its gratifying, but Jays covering his own ass too, for the part he played in some of the worst criticisms about the show, he was complicit and during his talk with Allison was playing innocent about a certain criticism about her eyes WHEN HE WAS THE ONE WHO SAID IT. Also all his double speaking, and padding for run time, and constantly repewtingnhimself and talking over the girls during the stream. His hot tea is meh often times.

It’s probably the fact that you British girls had the practice but I felt watch this series you girls had the most personality. Sophie won the challenge where she won a trip to Calgary (which is where I live) and I so wanted to run in to her somewhere. You all seemed like such fun girls.

On a surface level, this cycle was corny. But on a deeper level, it cheapened the contestants and Mr. Jay. Doing a trampoline photoshoot as famous figures? Having AzMarie wear a butt pad for a pop video? Sophie not even receiving all of her prizes? Oh, and multiple dangerous photo shoots/challenges. Hey, Anneliese. I do agree with Mr. Jay, because basically, at the end of the day, ANTM has become nothing but a vapid reality show with the premise of finding the Top American Supermodel. It offers little as to what the Fashion and Modelling Industry really is. And at this point, they're basically beating a dead horse, the show is way past its prime. I literally just finished binge-watching The Face UK, and the difference between these two shows (production and all other elements) is immense. It's kinda sad really that the series didn't last as long as I would have hoped, and I lowkey wish you, Sophie and Louise would had gone on to The Face UK instead. From what I've seen, it seems to be a far more accurate representation of the actual modelling world. The Mentors are authority figures in the world of fashion and actually know what they're talking about. And the feedback the contestants received actually helped in making them better models. Plus, it would have been awesome to see you mentored by the great Erin O' Conner or the legendary Naomi Campbell herself. I wish you would do a Comparison Video between these two Series. The Face UK is good but it's telling that NTM contestants generally had found more success in modeling post-show than those from The Face. Not to mention, more contestants starting with this cycle (18) broke in into high fashion/high end commercial. It had proven it was still a good platform despite how ridiculous it was. Especially during the social media age. Also, it wasn't guaranteed they'll make it to The Face because Kacey auditioned for The Face US and wasn't accepted because she's an ex contestant from ANTM.

You should watch Cycle 12's Aminat Ayinde and Fo Porter Live Chat because they reveal that there's an altercation between Tyra Banks and sixth placer Natalie Pack after her elimination. 4th placer Celia Ammerman also confirmed this as well via Facebook post. They pretty much spilled the tea finally. Also both Laura James and Leila Goldkuhl of Cycle19 also spilled the tea as well. They reveal that there's an altercation between contestant Maria Tucker and three producers of the show. Before she quit. Its very juicy actually.

Tyra wasn't the only one she had altercation with after her elimination, she also went to each of the judges as well and told them how stupid the photoshoots and their critiques were. They pretty much edited it out seamlessly pretty well. Also about the Maria Tucker one that's the one i didn't know. Although that probably happen when she refused to do the makeover and the photoshoot in that episode. They probably also edited that one out too. But i really enjoyed to see the other Cycles in Jays Chat too. Good to see the former contestants are very fine and well despite the pandemic. 👍👍

I'm surprised that production was judging the photos, and not professional people like Jay. Production was deciding which would be the best photos. It sounds like production brought antm to it's demise. And you could see Jay was fed up with their stupid ideas. The concept of modeling and developing good models was far from productions minds. Keep And also Tyra sounded like she checked out from the show long time ago. You really shared the Tea here 🔥 I watched season 18 with you on and really wanted you to win. But you were the best in the way of communicating and presenting yourself even though Kelley was a cow to you. I'm really happy to see what you've achieved through your career..

Hey, there's a point why two Americans joined the Cycle 18 into different identity: Azmarie is a proud lesbian, chic rocker for being bald, stunning for her walk that I wanted to notice well. Seymone is the only plus size model, I'm compared her as Ashley Graham's shadow because of being a life coach partner. A hard to choose which one of them if Americans remained in three against British flying to Hong Kong / Macau for the rest of challenges I would cross fingers to take a good judge while watching....phew!
