The friend of Jay Slater who started a Go fund very quickly should be questioned closely, why would she do that when the local authorities are throwing everything at this search and they are working night and day to trace him at no cost. She has also criticised the police efforts several times.

I said exactly this to my husband last night. The Facebook page which was set up very quickly, what was the point? It's done nothing but create absolute chaos with internet detectives stating ridiculous things like " ...has anyone looked into him possibly being stuck to a cactus?" Another person "in a power chair" has asked if they should go over and 'help' look for him or would they "get stuck on the terrain"....the mind boggles! But I noticed how they put in the title of the FB page "-Only Official Page" and that's because they put the GoFundMe link on the page. Something is extremely hinkey with that, very weird.

You're the only person I've ever heard mention this in any of these searches. It baffles me. We used to farm sheep, and the smell of a dead sheep in summer was overwhelming and unmistakable from a very long distance away. An elderly, large man using a bright blue mobility scooter went missing on our local common in summer, and it's only 495 acres and very well used by the public. The police used dogs and drones and helicopters and divers and failed to find him. They stated that they were certain he was there. I remember thinking that the only place they hadn't apparently looked and where a strong smell wouldn't be noticed as much was in the overgrown pathways close to a major road, BUT I did initially assume that they must have looked there at the start. Sure enough he was found there with his scooter many months later. Let's hope that a lack of smell anywhere in this case so far means that Jay is still alive but in more complex circumstances.

This is not about snubbing the UK police. The terrain is familiar to the authorities in Spain, and they are used to dealing in that type of landscape.
