I can’t comment or the validity of her statement at all but I’m from central NY and it takes 3-3 1/2 hours to get to NYC. There’s more that one route through the state from Rochester or any of the big upstate cities. It’s 5 hours if you take the Thruway because the Thruway takes you over to Albany then south but that’s not even the way most people go to get there. I’ve definitely gotten there in 3 hours before and I’m just as far away.
