Probably because of the negotiations. You never take the first offer. Every time the record label submitted an offer she had to have her attorneys look at it. If it needed to be modified/rejected then Def Jam’s lawyers had to resubmit it to Rihanna’s team. She’s smart and has done well for herself. $600M later, Jay must be proud!
