They dont know im a go getta, tha mobb, best rapper alive, dr.carter, bm jr, something you forget, beat without bass, sky is the limit, lalala, pray to the lord, mr.carter, banned from tv, swag surfin, fly in fly out, hollywood divorce, ties my hand ... They dont know street is watching, feelin it, d'evil, dead president, can i live, imaginary player, people's court, in my lifetime, free mason, the devil is a lie, drug dealers anonymous, seen it all, renegade, jigga my nigga, anything, cant knock the hustle,

This track still touches me at 39 years old. I remember finding this song back in like '97-'98 when jay z was bubblin 'round the time of his "in my lifetime vol. 1" album. I and my brother remember discovering this song randomly like some sort of obscure single almost like a white label record. But it was apparently a song on the soundtrack for this old 90s hip hop stripper movie cult classic called "players club." But considering how large Hov was becoming at the time he never widely released this song. It was more of an underground banger that was just loved by the core hip hop fan world. A touching allegorical hood tale song. With 3 different protagonists. Brilliantly written. Songs such as this one is what makes the 90s era of rap music so much more impactful and separates it from the 2000s. Songs with messages and creativity. Classic joint!! #Rocafella #Hov #Bleek #SauceMuthafuckin #90sera

Its stories. Thats what does it. Telling a story with rap makes it special. It hits something primal and universal in people. Everybody tells stories, at the dinner table, the bar, holidays, bedtime, whatever. Its who we are, all of us.

Seems a lot of people didn't know... This song was only released on The Player's Club soundtrack. That happened a lot back in the day. You'd have one amazing song stuck on a soundtrack (some eventually got on albums) - Jackson Browne: Somebody's Baby (Fast Times at Ridgemont High soundtrack) - Big Pun feat. Beanie Man: Makes Me Sweat (How Stella Got Her Groove Back soundtrack) - LBC Crew - Beware of My Crew (Thin Line Between Love & Hate soundtrack) - K-Dee- Hittin' Corners (Friday soundtrack) - Jay-Z: Can I Get A..." (Rush Hour soundtrack) - Blackstreet feat. Mya - Take You There (Rugrats Soundtrack)
