The thing people never take into consideration is Tupac wasn't trying to make his lyrics crazy lyrical. He was speaking to the kids in the ghetto. He wasn't trying to do all kinds of crazy metaphors and double or triple entendre. Because he wasn't trying to have people miss his message.

Why is it so hard to comprehend that Pac is not a rapper that spits filler? just saying a bunch of rhyming words is easy to do. But to convey our struggle is poetry. Whatever Pac utter meant something he was the perfect blend of A New York born and California transplant with the privilege to experience different environments and articulate them to everyone not just a certain region but every region. If you sit back and really listen to his voice and no filler raps he make other artist sound immature. Big a goat too but the range of Pac is worldwide.

Well said and those different environments also include Baltimore Maryland as well don't forget😊 not everybody can come from his background and be able to come up with that. The people that are criticizing him were born and raised in one place so they had to follow the lyrical politics of that area (also having local support as an advantage) but for Pac he bounced around and he was able to put his experiences all into one thing not a lot of people can execute that perfectly as he did. I believe that's what made him stand out how adaptable he was because of him moving around a lot. He went his own way

Tracks like Blasphemy, and Me & My Girlfriend are two amazing tracks that show pac's skill as a lyricist. Almost every line in both those songs were double entendres (there's at least 1 triple entendre in each of those that i've picked up on so far). Pac was definitely an extremely skilled lyricist. He just only showed that side of himself 20% of the time. You have to dig through his deep cuts to figure that out. He tends to get underrated for his skills on the mic because all his hits are the tracks where he's tryna be direct.

Pac is one of the best song writers period. Sure he didn't use punchlines , he used poetic words. So to me he's the best lyrically. It just depends on the styles you prefer. I think pacs lyrics were more emotion and poetic driven. His mission was to be more than just a rapper. He used his God given gift of writing to spread his message through rap music. He wasn't a technical rapper. He used his craft to transform the culture. Sadly people only appreciated pac once he died. Then everyone started listening to his music. Pac was only a kid when he wrote these masterpieces, like changes and the rest of his catalog. Pacs music is about the message, not crafty wordplay.

Why do people get so offended about somebody saying Pac wasn’t a lyricist. He wasn’t. Being a poet isn’t the same thing. If that’s the case a poet is a lyricist? No. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t impactful, but don’t make up stuff about him because you glorify him like a god. It is what it is. Everybody can’t be compared, some are just in their own class. It doesn’t make him less of an artist, but to claim he was a lyricist is stretching it.

Personally, I'd pick Pac over Jay any day, but I've never rewound a Pac verse to hear his wordplay over and over again whereas I do that for Jay all the time. When I rewind a Pac verse it's to re-experience the gravity, depth, passion, and emotions of what he said, which I've never done for a Jay-Z song.

But hey, world wide records sales do, sold out world tours do, general brand awereness does. Keep believing that the world exists out of the 5 boroughs. Meanwhile I have to explain to my colleagues that that dude Beyonce is married to, is actually a rapper called Jay-Z.

There was another rapper from Michigan that made Dear Momma in 1993 called Damion The Demon Seed. Look it up and figured out who got what from who. Apparently Damion wasn’t pleased and let Pac know it.

Got to loves Styles P. Jay gets really upset when people don’t say Jay is the best. We all can’t be clones of each other when it comes to people’s favorite rapper. But if ask me Pac is miles above Jay Z.

Man Pac had words wit emotions that stood out and shook the world . Jay Z never move the world like that imo, but he has top tier music though .

The one thing I will give Jay-Z a lot of credit for, and I mean, a whole lot, and that's getting Beyoncé to say I do

I saw Styles P at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Any song is lyrical no matter the genre yet what NY rappers overly emphasis is punchlines which is a technique taken from Comedy not songwriting. NYC rappers often engage each other in playing the dozens using punches which is a culture in NY but battle rapping is big money game just as Cassidy. Respect to NYC way because that's where Rap Music originate.
