What a great time it was in hip hop. If you weren’t alive or around during this time then you’ll never truly understand how these diss records were perceived by the public. Nas said on ether, it makes your soul burn slow. As good as takeover and super ugly were, they weren’t anything special. It was the same thing everyone was saying/doing, which was flexing, saying how they are tougher than everyone else. When you look at ether, it touched a nerve, hit on a completely different level.
