The first halo strap is the one I have and it's great. No pressure on the face. Once you put a battery on the back using a 3d printed bracket, it is really well balanced too. The battery acts as a counterweight to take even more pressure away from the front. I also fitted a VRCover silicone face shield with their improved cushioning pad. It's definitely worth investing in better straps and accessories for these things. BTW, I use a Belkin 10000mah battery pack, looks great and gives you a few extra hours.

Gotta say the BOBOVR M2 does take some figuring out, to get it right, and I agree the company info on how to wear it is confusing. They show that there should be no gap between the top of the Oculus and that top band that goes on your forehead but I find that impossible in order to get comfy. The back part also goes down lower than they suggest. But I do find it a million times better than the default strap and it sits comfortably without putting loads of pressure on my face.

Have you looked at the new M2 pro? It's mostly popular because of the magnetic battery pack but they got rid of the top strap and replaced it with just a short little strap at the front that attached. Interesting design choice: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pH29p2ljfd6Hr8U

The Elite Strap gives me MASSIVE headaches, but only when I’m wearing the headset. I strap it to my face, and as soon as I relax my eyebrows, the headset goes down and it’s super blurry, even if I have my eyebrows completely relaxed as I’m putting the headset on. I got the Elite Strap because I had the same problem with the original strap. I could only play for 40 minutes. Someone made a vid about how to maximize comfort by adjusting the top strap, and that’s where it made everything go downhill for both head straps. Now I’m getting the Bobovr M2 Pro.

Hard to beat my Quest 2 setup. 1) Best strap is the *Vive DAS* (super comfortable, solid built-in headphones, has springs for easy peak & venting, and looks awesome if you like black). 2) Get a 3D printed adapter set from Etsy, to mount the deluxe audio strap. 3) I also added the Apache comfort strap (over forehead) & rear battery strap from *studioform creativeVR.* (I used a simple rubber band to keep my 600mAh battery from sliding out). I get over 6 hrs in _Population One_ ☝🏼 4) like most ppl suggest you need the *VR cover* face plate & halo bumpers or Kiwi grips

Try VR without glasses. VR is fake depth. So glasses are likely not needed
@jaybratt2 жыл бұрын
VR simulates depth so if you need glasses to see clear beyond about 5 ft you'll likely need them in VR. Some people's prescription is mild enough they can forego them for comfort but even for me who has a pretty low rx I still need something in vr (contacts, lenses..etc.) Sadly!
@jaybratt2 жыл бұрын
Sadly nothing on Quest is quite as comfortable or glasses friendly as the PSVR was. A simple halo strap like this one: amzn.to/3K7Icxo can work decently because the lenses can be left out away from your face. More often than not the facial interface is the bigger problem as it may be too tight for glasses. Some people use a halo without the facial interface for glasses. Either that or invest in some rx lenses. They're AMAZING for glasses wearers but they are not cheap: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHLbgpSLhbSqodU this company is down to around $100 for a set last I checked though

Great video, thanks for making it. Something to keep in mind though - there's massive difference between how it feels in the first five minutes compared with an hour later. I have the FrankenQuest and it feels just fine for about 30-45 minutes. However, the longer I wear it, the worse it gets. After an hour or so it becomes intolerable.
@jaybratt3 жыл бұрын
I did the Frankenquest for years and with the Q1 I felt more ok but with the 2 it just didn't feel as balanced. Funny you mention this because a while after the video came out he asked to try the halo again and ended up taking it as well. He still liked the comfort/stability of the other better but the fact he wouldn't have to adjust the halo when he passed around the headset was a deal maker for him.
@Chris-tu3xx Жыл бұрын
The best setup I found was using the oculus pro strap and adding a velcro belt that grabed on to the logitech symphony speakers and the strap itself huged my forehead allowing me to remove the face gasket. I now have no face fatigue. I recently ordered a face gasket that has a fan on it but the difference is the face gasket with fan does nott hug the facial tipical rim but it goes from the cheek bone to tthe top of the forehead. I bought it and I'm going to test it today. but so far, that velcro strap is the best.

Only other ones I've tried is the default and the Kiwi elite (which I think is basically the same as the official Oculus elite one), but the halo is so much better IMO. Best one I've tried yet by far. Takes the weight off my face, and I can put the back strap low on my head, so it will stay on even if I do a handstand! I got the iovroigo halo strap... Don't know if it's the best one like that...but if "halo" means it rests on your forehead, and the back part can go down low... That's the only proper way to do a VR headstrap IMO.

I had the Bobo VR M2 and sent it back. More or less every chanel recommend the Bobo, but it wasn't really comfortable and the worst was, it slipped off my head. And not only from mine, from my wife's head too. I suspect that the problem lies with the too small cushion for the back of the head. This way mach less stability can be built up. So yea, I can't recommend that strap either.
@jaybratt3 жыл бұрын
You're right Mike it's definitely not for everyone. I really like it but I have a massive head it hangs onto tightly. I do have to keep the back part a little lower than you're supposed to to get that feeling of stability I want though. It's not perfect so I keep trying others. I should be reviewing the M2 Pro this next week. Fingers crossed it'll be perfect!

@@jaybratt Hey, I totally understand that. Actually, I really like halo straps. I loved the Halo on my PSVR. Therefore, I hoped for a similar experience from Bobo. I just came across this video & wanted to say I just bought the newly improved bobovr m2 pro headstrap that comes with 2 battery packs/charger & replacement pads to customize the fit for the headstrap. my son said he absolutely loves it. he's 10 & we just bought the quest 2 with resident evil included for him for Christmas. I did a lot of research on headstraps before making my final decision & actually found this on Amazon and based my purchase off of an amazing & detailed review by a guy who bought one for himself where he included LOTS of pictures and a couple very detailed videos of the item. It seemed to be the best product for the quality of play we were looking for & since I had tried to play RE a couple times myself before finding the new headstrap, it was obvious to me that the included headstrap was not meant for extended play or even a good level of play because we never could get it to fit just right & it was entirely too loose for some of the physical movements required to play the game. I loved the amount of information included in this video. I definitely have more knowledge about other headstraps now.

Was curious to see feedback on the Kiwi, but this was still really helpful. The oculus alone eats my whole face, so can’t do the forehead strap thing unfortunately. Also constant headaches means I have to be careful, but the stock strap puts all the weight in a tight band digging on my head and on my cheeks because it’s so high. Can’t really understand why they’d put all the posterior counter weight on a strap that can’t be adjusted down lower. It’s like wearing a heavy crown that just wants to pop off all the time. I'm back to this video as a follow-up after buying a 3rd party head strap - I hope anyone doing their research finds my advice useful. I did extensive research on different head straps, watched many unboxing videos, reviews like this one, etc. I wound up buying the BoboVR M2 Pro Battery head strap. *Head Strap Comparison.* As a new Quest 2 owner, I personally didn't find the out-of-the-box head strap for the Quest 2 that bad. However, I definitely couldn't wear my headset longer than 50-60 mins before I had pressure build up on my forehead. The second the BoboVR headset touched my face a smile rushed over my face and I actually let out a 'wow' with the level of comfort I just discovered. Now 3 weeks in using the BoboVR head strap daily.. I'll never go back. If you're buying a VR headset, budget in accessories for comfort. *Longer Battery Life.* I don't want to live life in a VR set. I want to do both VR and real-life experiences. That being said, having the battery pack on the BoboVR M2 Pro is a huge advantage. There are days I forget to charge my headset and it sucks when you gear up for an hour of fights in Thrill of the Fight or Dojo combat in Vader Immortal just to find out you only have 30 mins remaining. The battery pack has my set lasting 4.5 hours now and those awkward moments of not having enough juice are gone. *The Padding is Softer than My Pillow.* These head straps that cup the back of your head are incredible. They're so incredibly comfortable and really give you a well-rounded VR experience. The weight balance and everything these other reviews cover are all true. It's amazing. *BoboVR Pro Battery Pack Magnet Strength.* I'll include this just for the wandering researcher. I'm 6'3", 240lbs and no way am I going to childishly spam my hands in front of me to swing a sword or throw a punch (I go full send). I'm bouncing around the living room causing an earthquake in my house going full Rocky 4 in my headset or embodying the heart and spirit of Christopher Lee's Dooku in glorious Form 2 (rest in peace). Not only does the battery pack stay in place, not wiggle, and not detach, but I often forget it's even on the headset! The magnet is strong is what I'm saying. Worth every penny. I recommend the BoboVR M2 Pro with battery pack.

So for me I look for a headset that balances front to back rather than relying on compressing your head to keep from sliding down your face... so the Elite Battery Strap seemed like the best option. I have found through use that I still need some tightness when playing fast games like Beat Saber to keep the headset in place... but even if it's loose it just moves around a bit rather than dragging your entire face down toward your chin. With unbalanced straps I found I couldn't play for more than 30 minutes or I'd start to get a headache from the strap being too tight... and while all the designs in the video definitely are more supportive than the truly terrible original strap... I wonder if any of them are properly counterbalanced.
