Nothing is taking my BovoVR batteries from me! lol. Just had a really bad storm that knocked out my power last night. I didn't feel like going out to get the generator running. But I had a problem, my cell phone needed to be charged. So, I was like I'll use my BoboVR pack that is fully charged! Worked like a charm. My phone was at 100% when I woke up this morning from the alarm. Saved my butt! haha

It's great to see these stable batteries coming to straps. I considered for a moment grabbing one of these while listening to your review. If only Bobo could come up with a pro battery pack with this power output (there are small 6000mah "emergency" QC3 battery packs that already can do this) and possibly the 10000mah capacity (I think their magnetic dock could easy support the extra weight), I would be one very happy camper. For now i'm still using bobo m2 pro with external battery velcroed to the top prongs instead of theirs. BTW: If this strap holds power on the quest, then it probably also supports quick charging (QC3 or PD), which was not mentioned as you probably didn't think to test it. Much less important then the longer play and less quest battery wear, but still a notable detail. Another great review Jay. Thanks.
@jaybratt2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Unique! The odd thing is the Bobo batteries quick charge when I plug one into my phone but I do notice the power drop a bit in the headset when I have one strapped on. I am actively trying to learn more about volts and amps so I can bring you more in the reviews but electricity is so much more complicated than I expected lol
@TheUniquewon2 жыл бұрын
@@jaybratt The thing to keep in mind with USB-C and any device with QC3 (and PD) standards supported is it is a negotiated connection. When connecting 2 devices, they negotiate between them what they support. This is most likely the "overheat protection" most batteries advertise, not sure if this can be trusted completely though as both devices rely on the other for accurate information in the negotiation. This negotiation is likely the reason the quest only does quick charging while turned on. The Quick Charge page on wikipedia has a reasonable writeup on how the protocol works, and is somewhat easy to understand if you wish to look into the basics. Any time you hear "USB protocol" anywhere though, grain of salt, as it comes down to manufacturers in the end, and they often don't even give accurate basic battery stats. In the case of Quest, it's using actual quickcomm chips, so you can basically count on it providing correct negotiation. Like I say though, it's a negotiated protocol, so as long as both devices do not lie, it will always provide exactly the optimal power for the device being charged (eg: what it is using right now, in the case of VR, this is why the quest battery remains almost full, its doing almost nothing but handling spikes in power draw). The reason you may have seen a quick charge effect between bobo battery and phone may be it supplied more amps (watts is V x A, so both V and A can be increased to speed up charging). Quest may have a lower A limit then the phone. The advantage of increasing V instead of A (like QC and PD do) is it produces less heat over the wires. Hope some of this is useful, but wiki can explain stuff better then me. Thanks for all you do Jay.

Jay I'm a new subscriber and a new Q2 owner. I have medical issues with my neck and the 'buckles' at the back of the stock Q2 strap are giving me severe headaches + neck pain. I'm buying a strap (with battery) in the next 48 hrs. I had pretty much decided on the bobovr m2 pro or plus but would really appreciate an opinion from someone who's used most/all straps. Which strap would you recommend for comfort around the back of the head/neck area? Specifically considering that the pressure from the buckles on the stock strap is what's causing me pain. Sorry for the long question but the stock strap is stopping me from enjoying or even using the Q2 atm so any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏻
@jaybratt2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for subscribing and welcome! I'd DEFINITELY go for the Bobo Plus line. That new round back pad with the options of different padding make it the most comfortable on the back of head. Also the weight from the battery in the back helps counterbalance it all and from someone else who has had some neck issues I can say this is definitely my favorite all around. I'd still always get it on Amazon for the return options if possible but I think by your description you'd prefer it too!
@TemporaryName802 жыл бұрын
@@jaybratt No, thank YOU for all the great Q2 content. Subscribing was a no-brainer 👍🏻 Most of what I've learned about the quest, before and after buying it, has come from your vids. You've been a massive help. Thanks for the quick detailed reply. I'll definitely be getting the m2 plus. I was veering towards the m2 pro as it's cheaper but it'll be worth the extra money if the plus is even slightly more comfortable or more versatile than the pro. Sorry to hear you have neck issues too but on the other hand, it's REALLY good to hear that replacing the stock strap should help with neck problems ruining the vr experience. Can't wait to try it out and hopefully I can properly enjoy vr for the first time. Thanks again 🙏🏻
@TemporaryName802 жыл бұрын
@@jaybratt I got the m2 plus 👍🏻only used it for 5 minutes but it's miles better already. Probably gonna take me a while getting the perfect position sorted tho. First 'problem' I noticed straight away was that the gap around my nose is now bigger and the lenses are fogging up more than before (still using stock facial interface). So it looks like the F2 is a must-buy for me now 😅 I'll have spent more on accessories than the actual quest before I can actually start using it. All part of the VR journey i suppose 👍🏻

Yeah I believe there's is but it's not a battery strap, it's more of just a battery bank that is designed to look and feel nicer on a Quest. This is more for people who want something built in and less hack looking. I hear you though, I had a HACKY DAS setup for a while and I still miss the audio on it.

I bought one yesterday for just 47 bucks Edit, the side straps are SUPER uncomfortable, and not entirely recommended for those who sleep in vr. I spent one night with it while laying on my side and i slept decently but i woke up twice because the piece that rotates would keep digging into the side of my head. And the instructions also don’t tell you if the battery indicates that it is COMPLETELY charged. It lights up by four levels but often times batteries like that will have the lights turn off once fully charged. When this doesn’t seem to be the case as i’ve had this thing charging for over 9 hours and the four lights are all glowing solid still. I’m ASSUMING it’s fully charged but in reality i have no idea.
