Really enjoyed that Jay. I'm always keen to see what other peoples experience is on this trail and yours was a mix of the damn right irritating (the midges), the arduous and the grand. Good going. Part 2 now. Lovin it! Mark.

Hi Jay. I take it from the accent you are American? Excellent video. I done the walk in April this year but didn't film too much on first day (incessant rain). At 5 min 28 sec your hill is named Dumgoyne. Kudos to you also for your pronunciation of Drymen, said like a true local. Glad you enjoyed our country and 'haste ye back'

Benny Fett thank you, I know what you mean about filming in the rain, I missed a lot of the devils staircase for that reason. My wife is actually Scottish so I get corrected very quickly if I mispronounce something. I'll be back for sure!

Yep, that's what I call a hamburger! I've always walked past that Beach Tree place but I might stop to munch down one those next time I'm on the West Highland Way! Nice video :-)

JayClason yeah the West Highland Way is special lots of people keep coming back to it! I've already done it twice in under a year and will do it again around next April with some friends too ...

just out curiosity, right before landing you didn't have the strange urge to call the attendant as say "Las, there be a wee man on the wing out there!" via William Shatner, The Twilight Zone". LOL... Agree with Bryan, man that's nice, oh look COWS! They take their trail seriously don't they?! Awesome job... Mark

World Survivalist sorry about the weather, it makes it a lot tougher when the weather is bad.i was pretty lucky. Congrats for finishing it anyway though.

I cycled the whw in May on my own but skipped the Inversnaid to Inverarnan section, went back in June 24th with a few mates and did the first 41 from Milngavie to Inverarnan, honestly that 6.8 mile section from Inversnaid to Inverarnan was brutal, I feel your pain dude, well done on doing it and great videos !

esq mtbguy thanks, yeah I kept seeing people with bikes and was like, how in the crap did they do that section?! Well worth the effort anyway, trail is beautiful.

So you have the Protrail and the Stratospire? Which do you like best?
@jayclay16 жыл бұрын
David Amsler I had the protrail, but sold it and bought the stratosphire which I liked way better. Protrail was ok, but it was akward getting into and out of especially if it was raining. Not a lot of room. Also it seemed like the condensation was terrible in the mornings. was very light and packed very well.
@DavidAmsler6 жыл бұрын
JayClason awesome, I've been looking at both of those tests but really leaning towards the Stratospire because of the reasons you stated. Just seems like you'd have more room with it.

David Amsler I love the stratosphire. It was perfect in the rain and just getting up and ready in the mornings.

Im doing the whw in june any tips
@jayclay16 жыл бұрын
Scott Pollock awesome! Wish I was going again. So, first thing, bring protection for midges. Long sleeve shirt and head net will save you some major heart ache. Then I'd would suggest either wearing a pair of liner socks, or putting some kind of moleskin or duct tape on your feet before you get blisters. I also used vasoline on my toes. The trail itsself isn't hard, but it can be wet, and there were a few brutal downhills, especially right after connick hill. Other than that you should have a great time.

Thanks jay i know the first bit to balmha pretty well but past then i had no clue you vid helped thanks
@jayclay16 жыл бұрын
Scott Pollock glad it helps. I didn't get as much on film towards the end due to rain and chit chatting with other travelers so sorry for that. But you will have a great time. The hardest part of the trail is leaving it.
