I prefer the double, the extended one I had to make a conscious effort to make my stiches looser, and redo it a 2nd time as it was barely over half of the other squares in size.

HI jayda. I would just like to thank you for all the wonderful things you have taught me how to crochet over the years. I make things for a lot of people following your excellent tutorial skills. However, I can't read patterns, and can only crochet watching you. Last year my friend bought " the yule tide blanket kit" and sent it to me for me to crochet for her. Unfortunately I can't and I was wondering if you would consider doing a video of that pattern, or may be able to help me in some way. Thank you so much for your joyful, spiritual energy that comes across whilst doing the tutorials. I send peace and love to you and your loved ones. xxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Zehra, thank you so much for watching! We're pretty busy making tutorials for our own designs, however, learning to read patterns is very easy! Over on our website we have a free pattern page ( jaydainstitches.com/workshop.php ) and nearly every one of those pattern has a tutorial that goes along with it here on our KZbin channel! You can print off the pattern, find the corresponding tutorial and follow along with the pattern 😊 We also did a long form podcast on how to read patterns you might want to check out when you have some time here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqW1aHeil6mjb7M and part 2 here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3yxnp-ZYpiiZqM

Hi Jayda. If I made two panels, one with an extension for a flap, would this be sturdy enough for a tote? Thanks, really like this stitch. 😎❤️🐈⬛
@JaydaInStitches2 жыл бұрын
Hi Suzanne, it would be a nice dense fabric, but sturdy comes down to the fiber you're using: you might want to consider strong, mercerized cotton or a wool blend 😊

Hi Jada, I made this square doing 16 rows like you said and my square was really short, like only a few inches high, I did the pattern like you said and used the same yarn I used for the other squares, but somehow this one is not right, please help me lol can I just do the 32 rows like the rest of them, I am so close to being done lol
@JaydaInStitches2 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda, be sure that you're doing the "CH-1" when you pick up each loop in the forward pass, because that's what makes it tall. If you do 32 rows, you'll have to skip every other ch along the sides in order to have the square border match the other squares 💗

I'm working this pattern for the 5th time from the beginning. I can't seem to get the 2 sides to match to 33 stitches. the left side is 32 and the right ends up with 35. I have counted the sides over and over and have been very careful to not miss those little "tight" stitches on the left side. I have also moved up 1/2 size to a 6 because my stitches keep being "too tight" no matter how hard I try to keep them loose. Also, do I do the chain 1 on the 38th bar as well?? Please help me!! I don't know if it's that my brain is all crocheted out or what. Maybe I just need to put this aside for a month, I don't know. I did 4 afghans as Christmas gifts for my family living in Cheyenne, finished the last one Thursday of last week and that was a snot to finish because I kept missing stitches, not switching the cables or working a row completely wrong. I started them in March figuring 1 every 2 months but that sure didn't work out either. I can tell you I will NEVER do that kind of marathon project again in my life.
@JaydaInStitches2 жыл бұрын
Hi Roxanna! It sounds like your brain needs a break (that happens to me all the time!) First of all, in regards to the Square, just make 33 happen on both sides. That's it. If you have to skip a stitch or add a stitch as you go up and down the sides to make it work, then that's what you do, it won't show 💗 Second, make a list of anything that needs finishing in the order it needs to be handed out, I find seeing it all written down in order makes my brain calm down and helps me focus on what needs to be done first 😁 Merry Christmas!
@roxannaweaver21552 жыл бұрын
@@JaydaInStitches I'm glad it's just my brain needing a rest! I thought I was going bonkers there for a minute! Seriously, thank you - that is something I am more than WILLING to do! Merry Christmas to you all.

Question - My square is much shorter than the other squares. I dont see this square blocking anywhere near the other squares. What did I do wrong?
@JaydaInStitches11 ай бұрын
Hi Katherine, each row of the extended simple stitch should equal 2 rows of the regular simple stitch so if they're only working out to be about the same height or about 1.5x the height of a regular row of Tunisian, then a few things might be happening: 1. your tension is very tight and your "extensions" (the ch-1s) are nearly invisible. To fix this you want to either use a larger hook to ease up your tension or be mindful of your ch-1s and make them a little bigger. 2. you're missing the ch-1 extensions. If you're forgetting to make the extensions of perhaps missed a few rows of them here and there, this will also shrink the row back down to regular Tunisian stitch size. In this case you'll want to take out the rows where extensions were missed and redo them. 3. If your tension doesn't seem off, and you made each row an actual extended simple stitch, check to make sure you have the correct row count. If everything is correct, then it's likely just overall tension. I recommend blocking it out as best you can (if you don't want to redo it with a larger hook to ease tension) and if it's still small, you might consider making the border wider. Rather than the single crochet stitch all the way around, you can use hdc or dc. I hope that helps!
