I have seen some negative comments about this car based purely on the fact that it's a Kia, not a BMW, Audi, Lexus, or Mercedes. I have a Kia Proceed GT-Line S 1.4 DCT, same as in the review. My previous five cars were 4 Lexus Is, and most recently an Audi A5, so I feel I can comment on badge snobbery. You have to look beyond it - this is a fabulous car. The interior fit and finish is as good as Audi, Mercedes etc. You have to accept that Kia has gone from undesirable, ugly, wouldn't touch one with a barge-pole, 10 years ago, to some seriously good cars especially this one. Without doubt one of the best cars I've owned. I would recommend the Kia Proceed GT-Line S, without hesitation.

Negative comments about Kia just because it's a Kia is a prevalent attitude amongst 'car fans' that I found rather distasteful. Kia's torrid past should never be the reason to berate their current products (which are really good, by the way). But I guess it's kinda difficult to teach these badge snobs, I guess. This is by no means a critic on James' review, though.

Love the new Proceed. Especially in GT Line trim. Those red stripes lift it a lot, when paired with white bodywork. I’d seriously consider one for my next car. Anyone notice how every Kia model looks nice in any colour. EDIT: Where’s my 80s synth outtro music broooooo?!?!? Bring it back!!

The GT doesn't have a 2.0 engine as stated, thats kept for the Hyundai N, the GT gets the 1.6T putting out just over 200BHP.

In most European countries the GT version is the top of the line. I have the GT version with all the gadgets of that 1.4.

Recently purchased a 2019 Proceed GT-Line and i absolutely love it. I love having rare cars and this is definitely one of those. Ive only seen 1 other and that was hundreds of miles away from my area lol.

Out of interest. On the long runs you have done in the car, driving sensibly. What average MPG did you get ?. Im looking for my next personal lease car, so this could be an option. I do 800 miles a week, mostly motorway. Im also a fan of DCT's, as my current A class is DCT.

VJ plate. Actually applies to CJ as well. Means nothing now but in the old days, up to eighties I guess, locals knew it was a Herefordshire plate and you could spot a local car off its manor easily. Wait a second!!! The numberplate alternates between LB68GVA and LB68GVJ. What's going on???! Do I get a pedant prize? Free mug? New car...?

The 1.4 tgdi seems about the best compromise, a bit more pep than the 1.0tgdi but still good economy, not so powerful as the 1.6tgdi if you don't need it

Until the technology is 100% perfect cars should not be driving themselves in any way whatsoever. They keep buggering up and people will rely on the tech. and their driving will get even worse.

Problem is the VAG cars have become refined yet boring to drive in recent times, the argument against these is becoming less and less. Honestly think the car manufacturers are preparing us for autonomous driving by making cars completely devoid of feel and fun. There's going to be a bonfire of the car manufacturers when this fully comes into fruition.

You hardly ever see the 1.4t on pre reg. Nearly all the petrol models out there seem to be the 1.6t version which seems a bit more interesting

I like this car but hate to be framed as boring 😢. It’s a pretty car with lots of specs and affordable price. Maybe being working class translates in being boring then. Apart from that, great review😊

I will never get that either. In most cars it looks like a ridicoulus afterthought, tacked onto the dash in the last second. And it's not like it would be impossible to at least fit it to the dash in an appealing way....

Screens are put up there so they are more in line with your eyesight while you're driving. I own this car and actually prefer the screen placement compared to built in screens placed lower.

@@BeBarnee But why not have it so it folds away, rather than slapped there looking like it's been stuck on as an afterthought? Car makers used to do this, but now it seems like they think (probably correctly) that people want their screen to be highly visible for bragging rights.

@@julianevans9548 dont think so. Theres probably more to brag about a screen that folds out and pivots like in a range rover. I personally dont mind the look as long as the buttons are below the screen and not next to it. But thruthfully its much easier to see than if it was positioned lower. And isnt that the whole point of a screen? Btw moving screens open up tons of ways it can go wrong

@@1970boggy drive the gt version if you ever have the chance. You'd be surprised! The suspension was tuned by Albert biermann who was setting up the BMW M models for many years. New Kia gt models honestly feel like driving the light weight m models of yesterday's. I say that as an avid fan of the M39 M5
