I am an oap who drives a fiesta st3 (2014, 24k miles, Ford supplied and approved Mountune upgrade - 210bhp) but do not use lsd. My toy is huge fun but torque steer can be an issue, would hate to think what double the power would be like, phew. Great video as always James.
@J4cko9992 ай бұрын
The problem with tuned versions of the standard engine is that it increases boost from the tiny standard turbo which runs out of puff at about 5500 rpm, so you get a load of torque at 2000 rpm onwards. When I went to a hybrid, I didnt go this far, I went with an S270 for just over 300 bhp, but it doesnt just add more of the same, it totally changes the power delivery and with the mapping, the power can be smoothed out so it comes in less abruptly, and over a bigger rev range, it will now rev to 7500. Add in an LSD and decent tyres traction is really good, most of the time, of course it will break traction but its way better than I expected. WIth some of the higher power applications, more power slows them down as you are always backing off to try and get some grip.

Egad. What a beast. I own a Fiesta ST here in the US… bought it new in 2015, and still love it. They really are exceptional cars, if you’re into hot hatches. Ford USA pulled the plug on the Focus, Fiesta, and Fusion (your Mondeo) even before Ford Europe, and they now have nothing in their catalog that interests me… so it looks like my Fiesta will be a long-term keeper. It was a fantastic car it looked the part, handled and went extremely well, but it was the stock brakes and the piss poor head lights that let it down . All of this I had planned to address with better bulbs and a AP 4 pot brake upgrade. But covid came and the little car was sold as we ordered a caravan so a Decent tow car was required.
