@DarkDutch0074 жыл бұрын
There are so many songs released in a year, at the start most of them get lots of playtime and after some time only the good songs get replayed on radio or other streaming service. Not every song from your favorite time is good, 60s and 70s and all other decades for that matter has produced, next to the quality stuff we all still love today, also some crappy songs, you forget them cause they get played no more UNLESS it was so crap it turned popular again. So even a song from 2020 has the possibility to still get played after 10+ years, but maybe just like today, on the specialty radio-stations that focuses on a couple of decades. And don't forget that people have different tastes in everything, and someone who was born, say 10 years ago (not me) might like the music from his younger times when he/she is 50+. But like I typed earlier, time will tell what will be categorized as crap or a gem.

After the concert a gentleman approached me wearing an older looking Spinners t-shirt and said that one of the band members had asked him to look them up after the concert. He was so genuine I took a chance and called their room and they said to bring him to their room. Well come to find out he had grown up in Harlem and watched the Spinners earlier in their career at the Apollo. The band treated him like he was the celebrity. They were some of the kindest people I've ever met. Later that night I ran into that gentleman and the smile on his face was amazing, he just through his arms around me and thanked me. These performances are more than just music and dancing, they're recorded history. These groups will never perform like this again, they were at the height of their careers, and time has moved on. The thing about the music "then", compared to "now", is the positive energy and joy. Sure, a lot of it was acting, because when performing Live, you needed to project the feelings in the song whether you felt that way on the day of the performance, or not. I am sure that The Spinners grew tired of performing this song after dozens of rehearsals and performances. But they could SELL it. Watch these guys on stage, and you see them smiling at each other and projecting the fun of performance. Like the nice old woman in "The Ladykillers" said: "They call it Hippity Hop music. It don't make ME want to hippity hop..." Crude language. Gangster messages. Anger. Hate. Who wants to start their day with THAT as a pick-me-up?

1976; the Spinners had been throwing it down for 22 years, and still making top 40 hits! Amazing!

Every time I hear this song, I think of the movie "Stripes" with Bill Murray. Great song and great movie.

I love this so much. I’m pretty sure I saw this the first time it aired (I’m old). Groups from of this era had to do it live and were flawless. So much talent.

Fantastic some Philly soul. Great job my friend, love it. Try the Spinners "I'll be Around"

I love how they all seem to be having so much fun. Consumate performers and such voices. When a young girl used to turn this up so loud my parents would yell at me to turn down then my Mom would come in and dance with me. The joy of being a young teen in the seventies. Such fun.

I freakin' LOVE The Spinners.....Philippé Wynne was THE man, R.I.P. This is such a great jam. On another note, you gotta do Cherrelle "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On". Robert Palmer also did that tune a few years later in the 80's.

This song came out when I was in high school. I really don’t care what anyone says we had the best music in the 1970’s! Geez I’m old

Seen them many times my absolute favorite group; “Love Don’t Love Nobody”, the long version with Phillipe at his best, glad to see you doing my guys.

This song for me has a lovely, happy memory attached to it. When i was little my mom was single and on weekends we would get in the car and go on adventures. I loved this song and at 4 years old knew all the words. When it would come on the radio she would blast it and we would sing and dance and laugh. I cant help but smile and laugh to myself and it brings me back to that time
