Although I agree that the solo was/is badass and iconic, but it was just a means to add tension before the breakdown after it. Pantera definitely knew what moved the crowd.

@Chad_Fuckhammer 4 жыл бұрын
@@BLOEDVLEK I think Metallica has some heavier breakdowns. Creeping Death's break down is crazy heavy. So is One's. Just my opinion but Pantera doesn't have any albums heavy as Justice and Master of Puppets. Metallica was dark, brooding and heavy. Pantera to me is kinda like party metal if such a thing existed. Obviously they have a few really dark songs. Hollow, Cemetery Gates, This Love. Most old Metallica is pretty downcast dark and painfully expressed. Just to be clear I'm not calling Pantera thrash. Pantera is Pantera. Just saying their closest peers are the kings of thrash. Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Exodus, Testament, etc. I'd say Anthrax and Pantera are closer cause they both have that punk influenced lets get drunk slam dance and forget all the bullshit party metal vibe. They were like what Ramones were in punk. Kinda dark. Kinda serious. But kinda fun and care free. A perfectly polarizing mix and heavy as shit. Love the channel name. One of my favorite Acid Bath songs. Grave Flower, Venus Blue, Dr Suess Is Dead, Dope Fiend, Locust Spawning.

What I said may be funny, but I'm serious. They are metal. I see comments like that often about a lot of bands (KISS, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Ratt, etc.). It's like metal didn't exist before 1990, unless it was one of the Big Four. Regarding The Black Crowes, I wouldn't categorize them as alt rock either, rather just plain old rock. I don't see or hear anything "alt" about them.

Five minutes alone...a song about a kid's father, who'd had his kid tell him that Phil Anselmo had insulted him, which was later proven to be a complete lie on the part of that kid. The Father said that he wanted five minutes alone with Phil in a ring, to which Phil's Manager responded"No, you wouldn't want to go five minutes alone, in a ring, with Phil. Eventually, things quieted down, but that was the inspiration for that song... according to Phil Anselmo himself.

You said it perfectly... Relentless. Please do one more from that same show. "Primal Concrete Sledge" live from the Moscow Peace Festival. That one is ultimate Pantera and completely relentless. Thank you, feel better bro.

I'm sick right now to but if someone said they will kill me if I headbang to this Pantera performance then I would be a deadman. Still to this day this song has the heaviest breakdown ever.

Had the good fortune to meet the drummer Vinnie Paul. Got to hang out on his bus one night after a Hell Yeah show. My one outstanding memory is watching Dokken Live in Japan at like 4 am drunk as hell. Good times. RIP Vinnie

BAM is a perfect word for describing Pantera. Hollow and Cemetery gates are heavy but a little more melodic. I think you will like those 2.
