I got pulled over for speeding in town about 15 years ago. I’m 63 now, so I was in my late 40’s. Cop asked me why I was speeding. I said I was listening to “Renegade” 😬 He gave me a warning and let me go 😛

I got busted for speeding in the 70's. My car was very obvious, there was 1 similar to mine but was brown. Mine was white. My best friend had his mother's car, she was an ER nurse and had to have her car. So in an effort to get her car home we decided to play race car so we could get it home in time. I was in my car, he was behind me when I ran the stop sign by the libary. He stopped and saw the cops sitting at the red light about a hundred yards away. When he saw i wasn't going to stop he pulled out behind me and started flashing his lights. I thought he meant to go faster. So i dropped the hammer. A little side note here, what i didn't know was inside the cop car was an officer all us hippies considered a friend. He was a great cop as was all the local cops except 1. The other asshole we wouldn't have walked across the street to piss on him if his guts were on fire. Also in the car was a newly minted officer. 1st night on the job. First hour on the job. His 1st patrol was from the pig pen to the red light (about a 100 yards) when the officer saw me run the stop sign. By the time he flipped on the lights i was over the hill and couldn't see them. Back to the story. As i said my friend was behind me flashing his lights, so I went faster. The reason he was flashing his lights was because he saw the cop car and was flashing his lights to get me to stop. Which i would have i wasn't worried about a speeding ticket. As i said all local stoners had worked out an agreement with local enforcement if we saw anything totally wrong we'd let them know, I mean like breaking into a house or stealing someone's stereo. That shit is just wrong and we didn't need you in our group. Hence if they saw us breaking small time laws, rolling through stop signs, doing more than 10 mph over the speed limit they would pull us over and bitch us out. We drove/raced towards his house. There was a very tricky turn that is deadly at speeds over 45 has caused dozens of fender benders. In fact 2 of my friends were killed at that turn. From that turn there's a straight stretch for almost 3/4 mile, when i was about to turn off the main road i saw the flashing lights. So i pulled over and stopped. They were so far behind i had time to get out of my car. When the officer got out of the car I got to hear a phrase I'd always wanted to hear. It was a cop screaming in my face "just where the fuck is the fire", i busted out laughing and after him bitchin at me like my father for 5-10 minutes he calmed down. The next problem was when he asked for my license. I told him i lost them. He didn't wait for an explanation. He thought they were suspended, they weren't suspended i had physically lost them. I no longer carry a wallet because I've lost at least 6 and approximately $800, unknown sets of keys, I am now limited to no more than $20. This was agreed upon by all parties. Anyway after he calmed down and got down to writing the ticket as I'm watching i saw that I was being charged with doing 95 in a 25 mph zone and reckless operation. My cohort had to deal with the new guy, the cop was not gonna let the newby talk to me. He said the guy was shaking so bad he offered to fill the ticket out for him. Since he had his mother's car she had to get out of bed to come down and identify her car a say it wasn't stolen. I used this time to practice the ancient art of ass kissing. I was waiting for my friend to be released and the cop pulled in. I went over and apologized and said how stupid it was. I told him we were just dickin' around. I asked him at what point they got a speed reading on me? He said they couldn't so they went with how fast they had to go ketch me. But by simply apologizing I got my ticket dropped from speeding and reckless operation to just speeding. About a $100 cheaper and only 2 pts on my license instead of 6. The new officer? When they got him back to the station it took them almost 2 hours to talk him out quitting. He said he didn't want to work with crazy bastards like me. After we trained him he turned out to be a pretty decent cop.

Thank you Jamel for doing "my" Styx. I've been requesting them. They have so many songs, it's incredible. Yes, *"Renegade"* is always a crowd pleaser. It's such a rocker. @@andyscott5277 ~ Tommy Shaw is one of my all time favorite male rock vocalists. But I also like his lyrical style. I call Tommy the "King Of Introspection". Because he's always singing about looking at ourselves, and what we can do to improve our lives. He's a realist, and his lyrics are almost always relatable to something many people have experienced. •Who hasn't been unemployed, (Blue Collar Man, Too Much Time On My Hands)? •How many people have had a substance abuse problem, (Reach For The Bottle)? •Have you ever felt as if you didn't fit in anywhere, (Outsider)? •How often have we all wondered what our future holds, (Crystal Ball)? These are all subjects he's addressed in his songs (which I listed in parentheses). All relatable to someone somewhere...

Any Heep especially from the Hensley years, so many well written songs and so many different feels from Gypsy(s) early metal, to folk inspired lady in black, "Cowboy" metal of Stealin, and tearful song of lost love of Rain. And the symphonic metal Salisbury at around 18 minutes.

THANK YOU for doing STYX!!!!! Just for fun... You really should look up some videos of their live performances from the past couple years, so you can see what they look like now, even after rocking out for more than 45 years... you can tell they absolutely love being on stage, and they are still rocking! They were still touring until Covid shut down concerts everywhere. I think you would really like Fooling Yourself (Angry Young Man), Blue Collar Man, Crystal Ball, Babe, The Best of Times, and the list goes on. Another thing that's really cool is the series of videos that they did where they periodically team up with a group of teens called Contemporary Youth Orchestra. Sometimes it's just Tommy Shaw (lead singer) with CYO, and sometimes it's the whole band. The kids, the band, the audience... all having an absolute blast singing/playing classic STYX songs. Sooooo much fun to watch!

Saw this band live in 1981 during my sophomore year in high school. They were two hours late arriving to the show due to a snow storm, so they allowed us to take our ticket stub to a local record store and get a free album.
