@@tonythegoodman I've seen in dash 8 track, never had the pleasure of owning one. Sometime around the mid 70's we discovered amplifiers and 6x9 speakers. Then we discovered component stereo for the house and could record our own cassettes that we listened to while out 4 wheelin' or climbing hills. Damn that was fun and expensive. Then that foul condition known as marriage set in and ruined everything. And sadly the 1st thing to go was yer friends. You didn't know they were a bunch of lowlifes until about a year after you was married. My ex smart enuff to figure out i didn't need friends. That's pretty much why she's an ex.

From what I heard, this was recorded when they were 'The Golliwogs' and got some airplay. Then included on the first album as CCR. Credence was a childhood friend, Clearwater for the 'new' environmental movement and Revival for the spirituality of the music. Or so they said.

Dick Clark asked John Fogerty why, considering the great songs he had written, was Suzy Q the first single CCR released. John said that when they formed the Golliwogs in high school Suzy Q was the first song they learned together. So they decided to make it their first single because they had been playing it longer than anything else.

My wife is a Susan and never forget the first time we were both in my car and this came on the radio. Of course I had to start singing it to her...lol. 37 years later we are still together!

I am hearing this and I am 13 at the Church dance (in the basement!) with someone spinning 45s! We are teeny boppers and dancing The "SuzieQ" dance that went along with this song!! Say 1966/68?? I am 70 now, but this song lives in my brain!!

I can't wait for you to discover two more incredible musicians: Lyle Lovett and Annie Lennox. "Church" is a great into to Lovett and "Why" is a great first Lennox song.

This was my lullaby when I was a kid. My aunt and uncle went to school with CCR. Gramma made them sandwiches after school sometimes. I went to school with their kids . Good times.

My mother bought CCR double album for my husband as a christmas present, almost didn't give it to him back in the ninetees. She'd never heard them before, she was 70, at that age she finally learned to appreciate the music that we had been listening to for years.

Dale Hawkins wrote and recorded "Susie Q" in 1957. Creedence dropped their version of the song on their debut record in 1968 and it landed in the top 20 and launched them into stardom.
