I was 55 years old when i picked up "Careless Love" by Peter Guralnick at the library as a fluke; I had never had much interest in Elvis. As many of you know, it's around 800 pages long and the last chapters are so tragic. So I listened to a bit of his music. Then more....once you're an Elvis fan there's no going back. He's addictive. When people ask me why I'm so into him now I can't fully explain it. Yes he was gorgeous, and he was a musical genius (and he was), but there is another factor that I can't put a finger on. Whatever it is is what makes him so compelling all these years later, I think.

Though American people should know most of his songs. Karolina/Poland

BS! You don't get an honorary degree in black belt just for promoting it. Khan Rhe, Elvis' instructor, said "Elvis earned every belt". He worked hos ass off to get them. He single handedly kicked 4 guus ass's on stage one night while Red and the others just watched. True story! Elvis didn't do things half ass!

A few Elvis songs back I told you about memories of my momma cleaning house while I was in bed at night. Songs like this she would put on the record player and dance around in her little Capri pants and that long black hair up in a hive. She was only 5'1. Looked like a teenager but she was in her late 40s. Lol she would be so happy.. and those hips of hers would be twisting with the mop. Lol. God bless
@wynstansmom8295 жыл бұрын
I love this comment about your mother. I could just imagine her in those little black Laura Petrie (Dick Van Dyke show) capris twisting and shouting while she danced around her kitchen and you smiled. It's too bad there isn't any real video of his performance at MSG in 1972. I believe that was really his best performance ever even better than Aloha from Hawaii. The set list had more high energy songs and Elvis was really at his best. Been loving all of your Elvis reactions. Really cool, man!! He could make the National Anthem sound like you've never heard it before. That was his greatness.

Some of the guys 'in the circle' were Scotty Moore, on lead guitar who started out with him at the start in 1954. D.J. Fontana was banging on the guitar case. He joined the group in 1955 when Elvis was with the Louisiana Hayride. He was the drummer. Bill Black had died in 1965. He played and rode the upright bass. Charlie Hodge was on guitar. He became a close friend of Elvis. They met while in the Army in West Germany at the time. Charlie was yelling encouragement to Elvis during the show. Later, when Elvis toured the country Charlie was in essence the stage manager as well as singing harmony, handed Elvis scarves etc.

This was just Elvis sitting back, relaxing & chilling & giving it his all in such a relaxed atmosphere that you DON’T see any performers doing nowadays. Sure, the security issues would prevent them from doing it but if the fans could just sit back, relax & APPRECIATE the performer giving it their all & not act like screaming teens or drunken idiots, we could probably get to see more shows like this legendary one. Sadly, in today’s world, we never will 😣😖🥺

This of course is a Blues Song...Elvis LOVED Blues and Gospel music. As i stated in a previous Comment...in the 1940's when he was a child, and even in the early 1950's in his teen years he frequented the blues clubs so he could learn everything he could about it. This man literally does not have a bad song! He's called the King of Rock N Roll as you know....i call him the King of music! In fact, i consider him the King Midas of music. ANYTHING he touched (sang) musically turned to gold! He's the only artist i know of that could cover somebody else's song, and do it better than the original guy or girl did.
