(thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

Gday Dan, mate the crazy thing is there was junk around the place, so i thought it was just going to be more rubbish. The nugget was sitting in some softer soil which I thought it was the reminisce of an old tree stump, and sometimes people put trash in/on old tree stumps. Thats why i didnt set up the tripod and just used a nearby tree branch. It was only half way the dig is when i thought there was half a chance. The rest is history. What a find hey!! I look at it al the time, my Mrs. thinks I'm crazy hahaha. Cheers for the comment. JG

J G I have an SDC at the moment, which is a great machine, however living in NSW the goldfields are limited. I want something that is really going to punch through the less yielding areas where I detect. Many thanks for the videos and the heads up. :)

No, the dislikes are because it isn't 5 ounces. That nugget is 4.9 ounces, and more like 4.7 after the impurities are removed.

Is that a CTX your using ? If so, it's not the usual detector I see others use for prospecting, would you miss targets using that given gold comes in a different readings,I know most are able to pick gold up as mine does i search British soils for coins of all ages,and just like most have gold prospecting pre-set programmes would it make a difference from your all terrain to a gold only machine ?

Cheers Martin, I had a very good look around and found a fair bit of gold in the area. It's seen a fair bit of attention over the years so most of the gold has been found, as there are holes and scratchings everywhere. Not to say they get all of it.
