As a Celtics fan JB is absolutely not a problem and I am not worried about this team at all. There are ebbs and flows. We haven’t been executing and some guys like D white and Jrue haven’t played their best basketball. Jaylen Brown is the single best on ball defender on the Celtics, but largely goes overlooked because of the previously mentioned guys. He can guard 1-4 effectively, provides a downhill threat on offense (which we desperately need right now), and has improved as a passer, as well as a mismatch post up threat (especially on the fast break). We are perfectly fine, and calling JB a problem is just wrong.

Nah, 2.8 turnovers a game aren’t really impacting them much. He’s always had ugly TOs, but he’s also never even averaged over 3.0 per game. The TOs might be easy to pick out of a random game, like the thunder game, but they aren’t the real issue with him. The real issue is that he’s shooting a career low FG, 3FG, 2FG and eFG. Across the board. His 3 is TERRIBLE. His mid range is nearly non existent when it used to be his bread and butter( just last year he lead the league in turnaround fades for a large portion if not all of the season). ALL he is doing this year to score effectively is his post game. And he’s having an historically great post ppp season. But everything else for him has just totally abandoned him. He just CANT shoot *right now he CANT shoot. He def has been a good shooter during his career

@schuylersavage276 this still doesn't account for when those turnovers happen. We recently lost to Atlanta because of JB's brain fart of a turnover in overtime amongst other things. You can bring up the fact that he's having a down year and everything but post-game points and percentage, but the reality is the Boston Celtics are letting him handle pick and rolls, as well as a lot of other things he was not more a part of last season. Gone are the plays where somebody would bring the ball up and JB would cut to the basket immediately for an easy two, and replacing them or plays where he has more ball-handling duties than he apparently needs.

Based on those percentages, don’t those feel exactly like outliers? Lowest since this, 2nd lowest since this. JB’s PnR numbers are quite poor, but so are Derrick White’s. Both of which are severely dropped off from last year. They were both 70-80th percentile, now they are in the 40s. Look at the past for those two, that is an OUTLIER. The running of the offense has to come from somewhere, and PP can’t stay on the floor THAT much based on what you mentioned. After JB’s slow start last season(MEM, CHA, PHI, BKN games), I heard this EXACT same type of argument. Zach Lowe said if the Celtics may have a JB problem, they clearly did not.

The worst thing to happen was the Celtics finally over coming their choke habits and winning a title and putting the 1 title in 16 years and 1 title in 40 years narrative to bed. It was a cake walk (not their fault) Cavs and pacers choked some of those games away. And Celtics have always had amazing injury luck to their top 2 players. I still think Celtics can win another title cause everyone on the team always gets going at the same time from 3. Cavs and thunder can give them good games. But Jalen Williams hasn’t proven anything in the playoffs and Jarrett Allen and Mobley choke in the playoffs.

Take two. Your analysis of JB's play this year is 100% correct. However, your conclusions are 100% wrong. As your stats indicate, he has always been better than he is this year. And last year, after all the work he did in the off-season, he was on another level. He earned those MVPs in the conference finals and in the finals. Did you even watch those series? JB got hurt fairly early on this season. Hurt his shoulder. And he has been rusty and not the same since he came back. And the Celtics woes of late are intimately connected to his decreased level of play on offense and on defense. His defense last year was close to all defensive team. Nowhere near that now. You are right in one sense - Jalen Brown's poor play cannot continue if the Celtics are going to compete for another Championship. But he is That Guy. And the Celtics will not win again unless he gets back to his 2024 level of play.

They started off the year shooting over 40% and every month there 3 point % has steady come down. In January they are shooting just above league average at 34%. The issue is jb and the 3s.
