From all of us at Vanderhall, thank you Jay, for the time you spent with us, being a gracious host, sharing your the insights into your cars, (knocking out the foot well in the Lotus was a real nice touch for tall guys), and just getting to spend time in the ultimate man-cave with you was truly a great experience. There will always be a bunch of internet armchair reviewers when it comes to criticising someone's work; but to me this looks honestly made and a fair price, it looks like a blast to have as a second vehicle. Sure the big manufacturers will always be able to produce something that would be a more logical buy, but it will likely be sanitised and less human than trying out a product closer tied to the dreams and efforts of a small group of people. Although all the engineers probably sneered at Jay for requesting a gear readout as opposed to just listening to the engine, I think that sounds a good idea to help get used to the vehicle initially. But I'd love to give one a try and I'm not even from the US, so kudos for whoever took the effort to give manufacturing this a shot and make this a reality.

I've had my '22 Venice since Sept of '21 and still smile every time I drive it. I fell in love with the Morgan 3-wheeler when I was a kid and I think this is even better. The front-wheel drive makes it so easy to launch that power. This episode of Leno's Garage helped me decide it was what I wanted. If anyone watches this and gets one, I highly recommend getting a Banks iDash and putting it right in the middle of the dash. Perfect way to get all of those vital stats for this car.

I really like my Slingshot but this Vanderhall is awesome too. I like how well thought out some of the features are and that they offer automatic, I think both companies should offer both options to ensure preferences can be had. I have friends with Slingshots, some others are now looking at the Vanderhalls too... the more the merrier as competition gives us consumers more options and usually keeps the pricing comparable as well. I hope all of these brands do well. I'm a long time motorcycle rider, have had over 60 bikes and still have 4, I used to work for Honda and wasn't really interested in any of these until I took one test ride... if you haven't done that you really cannot truly conceptualize it. Comparing them to cars or bikes is silly, the new category should just be called fun-cycle as they are a blast and then maybe the sensitive people wouldn't get all offended over a name or classification or maybe it's just the price. For the more experienced and open minded people the closest thing to compare it to I have driven was a Lotus Caterham I raced in AutoX and many know how fun those are. Ride safe and have fun everyone!

I was skeptical of this until I heard the price. $29,950. That's pretty damned cheap for how much fun you're getting, and being FWD, in the rain it's not going to scare drivers with less skill like other 3-wheel packages would. My biggest caveat would be the automatic transmission. It may have a bump shifter, but let's not kid ourselves, rowing gears is a big part of the fun, and if you're going to make it front wheel drive, at least give us SOMETHING to do in the cockpit. Overall, pretty unique, more practical than similar platforms, and affordable. Pretty good stuff!
@jameshay72477 жыл бұрын
Rowing gears is no fun in city or stop-and-go traffic. Try a sequential shifter and you won't go back. People said they would miss kick-starting motorcycles, too (they don't).
@K31TH3R7 жыл бұрын
JAMES HAY I'm one of those weirdos that likes shifting in traffic. Gives me something to do. Especially if you have an engine making good torque and you can just leave it in 2nd and work the clutch. Sequential would be great in this, I may be wrong but I doubt GM has a sequential that mates to the 1.4. But I fully agree with kick starting bikes, give me an electric start any day.
@hallkbrdz7 жыл бұрын
An automotive sequential transmission generally runs $9-12K by itself. Yes, in volume it would be much cheaper - but, that is the chicken and egg problem again.
@apexerman17 жыл бұрын
I hear you James, but that's not really the purpose behind a machine meant for open road exploration. This is a torque converter based automatic.... the shifts are slow and lethargic. Even the bump shifter won't help. Unless Vanderhall chooses a different drivetrain, it's the slushbox or potential clutch-based manual. GM actually makes a manual shift transmission for this engine, so it would be interesting to see if one could be installed.
@TheCorrectionist19846 жыл бұрын
Yea this isn't a traffic car. I'm amazed no manual.
