I find comments today, when men appreciate mechanical workmanship ,its seen as "Boys with their toys". This car true art but not in the tradional sense. If its music or painting , thats OK but as soon as its a machine its seen only as a something childish. The metal arts are barely recognised in the traditional sense but are extremely beautiful in their own right . Skill , dedication and an eye for beauty fits everything in nature also things made by human hands.

Dennis Gage of My Classic Car just did an episode in 2012 highlighting the Jack Rich Collection in Frackville, PA. Part of that show was showing off a beautifully restored 1939 Delage D8-120S with coach work also by Saoutchik. It had that exact same door mechanism, however, there was absolutely NO wobble in the doors when closed by Gage on the show. Here it appears the doors wobble slightly closing. Gage highlighted the door closing/opening due to the uniqueness of it. Incredible car.

Most beautiful car I’ve ever seen. And I’m most certainly a gear/petrol head, and have seen almost all things that can be labeled a car. I can’t imagine the hours of metal work on the body of that car. And that’s not the real beauty, it’s that everything even down to the fitted luggage is so brilliantly thought out, I just place it at the top of my personal list of automobiles. Too bad I can’t even afford a replica! Then again to replicate it with any justice at all would cost over a million in itself.

I visited the Mullin Museum earlier this year, and it's a really great place. It has REALLY world class cars (including the blue Bugatti 57 Atlantic on the day I was there), and you feel that you are a guest rather than just a visitor. Virtually none of the cars are roped off, and Mr Mullin's brother was one of the many tour guides showing people around that day. Mullin owned one of my family's prior homes years ago (we're NOT rich, just old timers in a neighborhood that went chichi around us)...he could NOT have been nicer and was already very wealthy at the time. In 1987 I clumsily backed up over the hood of his Porsche 911 with my raised 85 Jeep Cherokee Chief in front of his home. Badly dented the hood. I let his wife know immediately, but they wouldn't consider my offer to pay for repairs. Incredibly gracious people. Haven't seen him in decades...was very handsome as a younger man. Fun to watch him nervously protective of his car...not wanting Jay to 'force' anything as he poked around it.

The more people use the term "art deco" without any clue that it really doesn't mean anything. ART DECO is ART/DECORATION. That applies to anything any certain person wants to apply to it.

How can Mullins claim that the Cord 810 borrowed from the grill of this car when the Hisso is a 1938 vintage. The Cord 810 bowed in late 1935 and was designed in 1934 by the great Gordon Buehrig. If anything this grill is lifted from the 1937 Studebaker. Just a corrector no sour grapes. This car is fabulous and I wish a model of it was available.

Remember that this was built over 5-6 years. The exact moment when the grille came to be is unknown.

Correct, it states in the video that this car took 6 years to complete. So the claim that Cord was inspired by the grille/front may be quite correct. Cord may have seen - or even just simpy heard of via a third party; some of the design before the car was completed...

I looked it up. That's no ordinary museum. It's a cross between an actual museum and a private collection enabling the public to see the exhibits. Only open on selected Saturdays so the proprietor is not making much money from the museum. I think he just wanted to give us an opportunity to see these incredible beautiful cars for ourselves.

Every bit of metal you see on these cars (okay, at least 90%) was cut, hammered, drawn, brazed, filed and sanded by hand. WTF, I don't even.

Feels like this was put up today, 2019. We are fortunate to have a pretty fine car collection in San Francisco via the Art Academy. They have two showrooms on Van Ness. They also have a Lago Special. Endless details on the car to admire. Even the exhaust is the coolest exhaust ever.
