God, I love Morgan! When I visited the UK in 2017, I had the privilege of driving the Aero Max, and it just felt perfect. Also, the styling, my God the styling! The styling is post-modern design at its best! They took the old fashioned long front end, passenger compartment at the rear, round headlights, side opening hood, etc., and gave it a wonderful modernization. Most cars from the 30s, and 40s had a really high stance, but as Jay points out, the Aeros sit fairly low to the ground. They just look fantastic, they are extremely well put together, they're fast, but they aren't race cars, they have all the essential creature comforts, they run great. I cannot say enough good things about these cars. Morgan really hit a homerun with the Aero, and oh how I long to own one. Someday I will have one of these in my garage, and I cannot wait. They're expensive, but they are worth every penny, and I have a feeling that as long as you practice good maintainence, and preventative care, these cars will last for decades.

That's exactly the problem.The long nose looks ridiculous with the weight balance totally off.I bet it's around 80-85% to 20-15% front and back respectively.Most certainly it understeers like crazy.Not that you go fast enough understeering to endanger you,but still,it's very annoying a light but understeering car. All cars i think should do the raft test (like top gear did while driving through africa) .After you put the car in the middle of it , it doesn't stay straight to horizontal,weight distribution is no good. Beside,it looks COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS with that long nose and short tail,like a good cartoon caracter with big head and small body. What's "amazing" about the stiling ? It's just the clasic old headlights (but with UNclassic interior of them) sloped back but NOT enough to be beautifull. 911 did them good,this didn't. Also,you're TOO DAMN LOW.I'm small (1,92m) and my head would stick out like crazy and wouldn't fit in it. Also it would be too cramped and steering wheel would hit my knees.Well,it would be BETWEEN MY KNEES. Beside,whenever i get in a car,i push the seat back.Here,I CAN'T because it's one of that STUPID "cars" with the wall behind the seat. Beside,as my great grandfather use to say,"I like to put myself/get UP in car , not lowered myself" . That's why i LOVE the 1920's cars and beggining of the 1930's where you would sit about the hight of a pick-up "truck" NOT this ... THING wich ISN'T a car,wich is too short,too low and did i mentioned the RIDICULOUS,UGLY AND UNCOVERING of the low and/or curved down door of the taditional british "sport" cars ? Beside,i can't imagine why the brith would build "sport" cars are they country is old and twisty,just like the citi streets with only about 2-5 days of shunshine a year :) . British sport cars are like ANY sport cars.USELESS.

Driving an English sports car on cool days or nights with the top off; just a tonneau cover on, with the driver's side, unzipped and stashed behind the seat; with the heater on max, wheezing away like almost warm breath, are some of the most enjoyable moments in a lifetime. MGA or B or all the T's; Sunbeam Tiger, Triumph TR Whatever or Jaguar XK's. I've loved them all. Now for a Morgon.
@Kawiturbo7507 жыл бұрын
I used to own an Austin Healey 3000 Mk I that I sometimes traded for a day for a friend's Triumph TR4 and occasionally I got to drive a Morgan +4. Great cars for PA roads but sadly I now live in Phoenix with its long straight roads and daily temps now around 110°. I will say that if you're thinking about old British sports cars with their Smiths Gauges and Lucas electrics you better enjoy working on your car. They are fun to drive, you really feel the road, they have a timeless look and they sound great.

Some people have no soul either. No one reminisces about things reliable, do they? The best summer day I had was driving my Triumph Spitfire from Winnemucca NV. to Reno with my blonde high school girlfriend when the entire front hood lifted off and I saw it sliding upside down in an ocean of sparks behind me. With just some wire snips and a length of road side barbed wire fence had me on my way. There were hundred of trips I made in more reliable cars where nothing at all happened. I don't remember even one of those days. Nostalgic nonsense trumps everyday nothingness always. Take your yuppie BMW Z4M and wave at the other Z4Ms that you see all day long. When you are old you can smile at all the trouble it saved you. Not to mention they are expensive for a reason. Right, Undercover Genius?
@Kawiturbo7507 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, I had those great road trips too but the fact I’m a mechanic helped because I could fix whatever went wrong, e.g. duct taping an empty bottle filled with gasoline, to the roof of the car as a gravity feed fuel source after the electric pump died. I’m 70 now and I’m done with unreliable cars so I get my road jollies on a Yamaha FJR1300 with a radar detector. In the 1960s I didn't have any male friends who were not car guys. Sadly, I don’t know many kids today really interested in driving, much less being car enthusiasts. They’re going to miss out on all the fun I had driving 3 cyl. Saabs, VW Bugs, Hillmans, a Morgan where most of the frame wood was gone, a Fiat 600, Corvairs, etc.
@davidsoom63837 жыл бұрын
I owned a factory turbo charged 180 H.P. Corvair. I lived next to Lake Tahoe Nevada and at that altitude when all the other normally aspirated cars were losing up to 35% of their horsepower, my Corvair stayed at 180 h.p. That put me in the range of wasting 289 Mustangs and 273 Barracudas all day long. Enjoyable times. The hapless Mustang and Camero owners didn't catch on to what was happening. My "fast" "stock" Corvair. Corned well too, because it was a 1965 model and the previous suspension problems were solved.

I drive a Morgan Fairchild, it has lovely bumpers.

While stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany in 73-74, I walked by a Morgan parked on one of the narrow, stone back roads in town. Coming from the poorest neighborhood in St. Paul, Minnesota, I was stunned. Not in my young life had I seen such a beautiful car. Jay, have you ever done a clip on rescue vehicles, or expedition grade vehicles? How about an update on military combat vehicles, or the kind called in by police in hostage situations. I served as a medic in Vietnam and those old Crackerboxes did A-Okay in tough situations. Wouldn't mind owning one.

When I was in high school (early 70s) my buddy and I use to walk by a company on the way to school in Galt Ontario where I guy parked his classic Morgan (in the summer of course). He also had a Lotus Europa. How cool was that see those cars every day? What a great time to be a kid. I don't know how they have stayed in business all these years but thank God they have. Mark

Without question a beautiful state of the art vehicle. Like many I have always loved Morgans, BUT I would take a 60s production over this in a heartbeat.

I never noticed the Mini headlights till now! There's probably more parts in it from the BMW spares bin we don't know about. Still a beautiful car though. I like how they're fully customizable from the factory, they can even spray it in bespoke colours.

It's called globalization, all kinds of parts sharing going on, between different companies.

+Girl_in_a_Hemi. It's not all that unusual for rare-ish supercars to use parts from normal cars. Have a look at:- www.fastcar.co.uk/fast-car-news/what-cars-share-the-same-lights/

They were an improvement over the headlights from the new beetle used on the previous models, they looked cross eyed!

The boattail! Jay, you always comment on the rear view, so I was surprised that you weren't smitten by Morgan's obvious homage to that classic speedster look. Maybe you were just a bit overwhelmed by this stunning automobile, as it seemed you were, and overlooked your typical analysis of that aspect. I hope that you will add this car to your collection and come back to it in some future episode.

Morgan cars are made in Malvern (pronounced Molvern) in Worcestershire (Wus ter shur) Well worth a visit, not just for the car factory, for the beautiful countryside and the history. Elgar to name one famous son of the county.

I love the older-styled body of Morgan's cars. I wish more automobile manufacturers made vehicles that look like those from the first few decades of the 20th century.

@sonofjak19717 жыл бұрын
There were two new car registrations in 2009 one in March, those numbers on the plate reading 59, and one in September the numbers on those plates reading 09. The Morgan being registered in the uk between September 2009 and March 2010.
@smiffy10717 жыл бұрын
sonofjak1971 you have that the wrong way round. The lower number runs march to September, the higher from September to march the following year.
