A lovely layout. I wouldn't have called all the papers busy but I would call them strong & overpowering. Red & Navy especially red paper packs are very strong colours & need the white to calm them down. So I like your idea of just using them as background edges & so making the white paper smaller but at the same time it makes the white stand out better as well because it is framed in a strong colour.

Strong is a good word for them, but they go hand in hand and I’d say the same concepts apply!
