Northeast doesn't start til you pass the Figueroa Tunnels going through Elysian Park. And while Echo Park is not the heart of L.A, it has one of the oldest neighborhoods/communities in L.A, Angelino Heights. Which is second oldest to Bunker Hill. They filmed a couple Charlie Chaplin films in Echo Park in the day.
