Love that the Jays are doing this! About Tyra, I do think she really wanted the black models to succeed because of severe underrepresentation until like the 2010s. You can criticize her method of doing so and 'tough love' methods for sure, but remember this is reality TV and its main goal is not to make people feel good, it's for entertainment. And try to keep in mind that 2005 really was a different time.
@janepatrick974 жыл бұрын
Not being salty at all,just wondering how forcing a black girl to kiss a racist is helpful,instead of standing up for her and firing the guy.Please make that make sense even in the very olden days of 2005?
@Ella-sv3vb4 жыл бұрын
@@janepatrick97 idk but I feel like Tyra made her do that shoot for she can understand that in the industry they don't care what beef your having with the person for example in many movies a lot of costars did not like eachother, hated eachother but they still did what they had to do because at the end of the day it's a job and they understood that producers doesn't care if they don't like eachother they hired you for it now you have to give them what they wanted. Tyras always talking about how the industry is going to send obstacles and how you have to March through them, that was probably one of them.
@hkazu634 жыл бұрын
Yeah but that’s the thing, tough love doesn’t work for a lot of people. Human beings are generally sensitive creatures, we hear criticisms much louder than praises, and sometimes you need to focus on building them up, instead of toughening them up. Furthermore, cruelty in entertainment is really beginning to fail bc of the changing social consciousness and as a result, people will look back on what they once saw as OK and talk about how it isn’t OK now. That’s just how society works. Things change and we talk about it.
@Ella-sv3vb4 жыл бұрын
@@hkazu63 but that’s the thing if you can’t face criticism you can’t be a model. Models are like the #1 people who face criticism a lot of the girls on antm understood that which is why when they got criticism they took it without crying because they understood what they were trying to do. They were trying to introduce them to the real fashion world for when they become models they don’t think everyone’s going to play nice. And the worlds changing because everyone for some odd reason everyone’s becoming insecure whereas back then a lot of people were more tough skin and you can shoot anything at them and they wouldn’t break.
@ladybugred56414 жыл бұрын
Khaell Saint Louis they never said models shouldn’t take criticism. they said that the show was overboard and crossed into very very unprofessional lines; like trying to gaslight a black woman about her racist encounters. THAT is not something that was excusable then or now so if you can’t understand that you’re probably too far up Tyra’s ass and may need to get out for some air.

How they described the fashion industry is so TRUE!!! I've worked on multiple fashion shows and I could count on my fingers the number of black models (black models not mixed) "plus sized" or just women with regular bodies and short models. Jay Manuel taught me to tap into what parts of my personality has been so affected negatively that I needed to work on. This came from an interview he did along time ago about his make up line that was coming out. It also helped me a great deal not to take it so personally when I encountered other people who personality I didnt quite understand or mesh with. Because you dont know their story. Ms. Jay just everytime I watched him coach the contestants added to my own guidance in finding my walk in life(just being true to self) and once I found it be confident in it, no matter what nobody had to say because thats what will bring me success in every area of my life. Im so thankful their back on the scene. They were very pivotal in my younger years. Big part of why I sustained a healthy self esteem growing up.

They talked about how cycle 1 judging room was thrown together in 1 hour because someone musunderstood the concept of "judging room" and put just a plain white desk and a few chairs in an empty room with bare walls. So they literally had to build the judging room minutes before the girls walked in. They also spoke about the drama that cycle 3 girls went through when they travelled to Tokyo - the same thing Jay talks about in his chat on season 3. About the final result between Naima and Kahlen, let me say: I’ve decided to put the photos call-order on Excel and score the best with 14 points (since there were 14 models) and the worst with 1 point; next weeks, the lowest score was based on a number of models (7 models: best photo scores 14 points and worst scores 8 points). Kahlen and Naima reached the finals almost tied based on my method, so both deserved Top 2 and was hard to decide between them. Kahlen is my ultimate favorite from 24 cycles, but Naima was also a winner material. Cycle 4 wasn’t something like Cycle 10 (Anya with 5 first call-out photos and no bottoms and Whitney with 1 best photo and 5 bottoms).

What he said between 17:19-18:00 was a very clever way of saying it without saying too much.

Makes me so upset how dismissive they were about keenyah!

I saw an interview with her, and she was really upset. She said she told everyone, including Jay, and they all did nothing. I think he is lying that he didn’t know until later.

What the 2 Jays have said is quite true,even tyra has been victimize these circumstances thats the reason why she stops modeling and proceeded these show...U can tell that they dont held a grudges over tyra specially when they said that " it may move forward a little bit but its still the same industry, its the same fashion industry!"

This is probably the most fair assessment of Tyra rant.

Skipped right over Berini sexual harassing the models. His hand was up Niaimi’s skirt to the point she was pushing it down & he was all over Kenya so much so he was moaning in her ear but Mr. Jay never stopped anything made them keep going. Niaimi & Jay & all the judges shifted blame Kenya for his actions

For me it got boring after Tiffany left. The problem with her was that she kept feeling inadequate. That is not an easy thing to get over.

Honestly it pissed me off that they chose Brandi over the one girl at auditions that had a baby and was sleeping at homeless shelters and cried because she couldn’t feed her child sometimes. It was a devastating story. Not that they should of selected her because of her story but because I thought she had a really strong look. Once I saw how ungrateful Brandi acted, I was like wow that’s f’d up. There was no excuse for that attitude.
