YOU GUYS, GET BOOSTERS. I was using a disposable at night too like many of you have commented but then I thought, “wait, why not use a cloth diaper though?” Well they leaked a ton and then I finally found a video showing the exact thirsties hemp insert she shows in this video. I just bought the 4 pack because I knew I wouldn’t be wait over 4 days to do diaper laundry so that’s a perfect amount to add to my stash for night time diapering! I use a FST and a hemp insert in a cover and it’s P E R F E C T.

I started cloth diapering my girl at 3 weeks old and she is now 5 months. I was using cloth day and night and recently her diapers were completely soaked through but not leaking and I felt bad cause I thought she may be uncomfortable so I started putting her in a disposable at night and the first night within 3 hours she was leaking everywhere and then she pooped when I picked her up and it literally shot out of the diaper. It was a huggies too! Those are supposed to be really good! I guess my girl is just a heavy wetter, but after that experience I refuse to put her in a disposable overnight😂

Well, if i have advice to my friends who want to start cloth diapering. (On a budget) I would tell them: then dont hop on the "print" band wagon. Stick to solid prints for a bargain out there. Because obtaining some prints does get addicting and it takes self discipline to pass up some xtra cute ones. Also there's "flippers" out there who sell exclusive prints for more than they initially sold on websites because they know they're hard to obtain and therefore can charge more. I admit, I feel I overpaid for some just to get that darn cute print I thought i had to have. But i will say, that preordering cute prints from websites does help generate more prints in production, supports USA sales, that's really one way to get some really good prints for a great price. (Its just waiting longer for them to arrive that's difficult to do sometimes)

Best advice I received was to use disposables over night! I have a night time heavy wetter so I was struggling to find a night solution for over a month. The solution I found was pampers! 😂 I'm totally okay using one disposable a day. Still saving tons of money, still reducing the typical trash that would normally go into the landfill.

I've been trying to become a mum for almost seven years and I've been building my stash the whole time. The first two years I bought soooo many and just had to have them all. Two years ago I moved across the country and sold almost all my diapers. In the middle of my journey I was able to try a ton on other people's babies and I learned what I truely love and what I hate. Now I feel like my stash is complete (mostly flats and covers but I do have pockets for childcare) but I still will buy a cover here and there if I absolutely love one. No going on to debt like I was before lol.

Regarding disposables, I had to switch to disposables for overnight diapers for about a month when my baby had a rash that we couldn't get healed up because it was sensitive to the prolonged wetness of the overnight diaper. Also, agree about the debt, no sense in going into debt over diapers.

Hi from France :) I love your videos you have such good advice! It's really not common here to cloth diaper so I always look at English videos for information. You helped me so much! I cloth diaper my twin girls for 1 month now (they are 3 months old) but not all the time because I am still waiting for some order to come and have enough to do a rotation. We still can see the difference in the quantity of trash the day we use the cloth and the day we don't, with twins it is HUGE! The best advice I heard is to relax, be careful with the microfiber and the compression leaks, and to use bamboo or hemp for real absorbancy. I had tons of leaks with my first diapers (pockets with microfiber inserts), and when I received my second order, with bamboo inserts, I was able to go 3 hours with a bamboo and a microfiber booster. So thank you for everything!

Hello! I really enjoy ur videos! Regarding this one just wanted to say that you may not be able to use the hemp insert on its own because u need to pair hemp with cotton. Or it will leak. Hemp absorbs slowly. So it needs to be paired with fast absorbent materials 😘

It seems like there’s trade offs either way though. All in ones take forever to dry whereas flats dry fast. I think we should think about budget first. That was a mistake I made with cloth with my first sons. I went with the top shelf super expensive diapers but then I didn’t have enough :( so they got heavily worn out very fast and we never had enough diapers. It made it unpleasant and miserable. This time I went super economical and am doing the cheap pockets/covers combined with flats, prefolds and cotton/hemp inserts

1st off I love your channel.. I watch KZbin on my TV so I do not see comments 1st nor can I comment. So to comment I have to look up the video I just watched on my phone to make a comment, which I rarely do. I agree with so much you have said. I agree its is not all or nothing, I use disposables at night, I was getting that amonia smell no matter what I did. I love flats & prefolds, my 17m old will out pee a flat(have nor bought expensive ones) so a prefold+hemp inserts worked great. I do pockets & covers. Pockets for ease of use with dad & older sis and covers for me. I have a 10week old in cloth now too. Still use disposables at night. I fell down the "rabbit hole" wish I didn't. it's still fun but ite really just a way of life now. Hubby hates the way disposable looks after doing cloth for so long. Prefolds in pockets or covers is what I prefer for an older baby... thank you for all your videos you are awesome!!

My research led me to bum genius diapers. They worked and I started to hate them. I replaced some elastics and just tossed the rest. I found flats and covers and found your videos around the same time. I love it! Now we will diaper our next baby from birth. I measured out my large muslin gmd (now discontinued) and it’s a similar size to the ones I would have purchased. 😬😬😬😬😬 it’s so hard not to buy a few more.....😬😬😬 we’ve learned so much over the last year

I decided to cloth diaper along time before having kids and then I finally decided to do it because we couldn't afford to keep buying disposable diapers. I am glad that I changed but it would be nice to be able to make the decision to switch if we wanted to but we can. We do have two types of cloth diapers so if I am not feeling well or extra lazy we use the pocket ones but then I have to wash with more soap and more often then when I fold and just use the pocket at night for my husband to use for changing. I am glad that he was up for doing the cloth diapers. It makes things so much cheaper.

Just started cloth diapering with our first born in september. I did a ton of research while prego and the aspect that has the most conflicting and just plain bad advice is wash routines. For example i read over and over how great Rockin Green detergent and in my opinion that detergent is terrible!

I think that the cloth diapering group on Babycenter has the best wash routine advice. Just reading their stickie about wash routine was incredibly helpful and I would recommend that anyone interested in upgrading, improving or fixing their wash routine at least read that. Take what works for you and leave the rest.

I can't use microfiber anymore because my son has developed an allergy to it. Even if it is in the pocket like it's supposed to be or the aio is folded like it should be. If even the slightest bit touches him, he breaks out in hives.

I'm a planner to. I love to research. I used cloth diapers a long time ago on my first all the way through. I only had flats and prefolds to work with, safety pins and rubber pants. I plan to do it again for my third in the future. I will use the flats and prefolds with liners or boosters and rubber pants. I looked at the fancy diapers but didn't like them. How do you feel about the rubber pants that look silky like on gmd? I want something breathable. I like watching your videos. Thank you.

We love wool diaper covers. Very easy to take care of. You don't have to wash them often unless they get poop on them. You can find them on etsy.com made out of up-cycled cashmere or merino sweaters. They're so soft and ridiculously cute!

Baby will be here Dec 2nd 🤞 I haven’t invested in “inners” yet. I was gifted over 30 FST they are to long for NB ... what would you use for the first few months? Would you do the other folds or get some smaller prefolds? Also, are FST absorbent enough long term? :-) Girl, I’m stressed lol
@JaysNest
@JaysNest 4 жыл бұрын
FSTs are the trimmest one size flats on a newborn when you wrap them around baby. I loved the modified newborn origami fold with FSTs! Worked really well. FSTs weren’t great for us long term, but they work for some babies into toddlerhood!

Have you tried the gerber brand cotton prefolds & flats from walmart? Thoughts?
@JaysNest
@JaysNest 4 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tried their flats. I had their Prefolds when I first started cloth but they were stuffed with pillow fluff lol. So it wasn’t absorbent. 🤦🏻‍♀️. They do have another kind of Prefold, so just be careful about which one you get! The prefolds were gifted to me in 2014 from a baby registry so I don’t remember the exact labeling of the package. Lainas Life talked about the gerber flats in one of her newborn videos. She said they were small.

Just get a newborn stash if you can afford it. They're so cute. And if you're breastfeeding exclusively it's so easy. Plus they only wear the diaper a short period of time. Lots of tiny poops lol To me it was something that brought me joy in a time of chaos those first few weeks. After I left the hospital I cloth diapered. Don't stress. Troubleshooting is normal! Your baby is gonna keep changing how much and how often they pee as they grow so things are always changing so stop hunting for the PERFECT diaper. It's not real man. Also I second not going into debt buying diapers. 😅 I thought I would love MK pocket diapers and they're good. But I really love stretchy flats. Sometimes cover less and sometimes with covers. If I had more money I'd invest in a large stash of both pockets with prefolds and flats with covers.
