I am going to get the Mini Maxx. I have the Terminator, and the ESC failed on the second run and three of the four shocks have failed. The bottom e-clip fail and allows shock shaft to push through the piston. Replaced ESC with a Hobbywing 10BL60 G2 and that turned it into a beast. Had to replace stock transmitter and receiver. Rlaarlo stock receiver wouldn’t allow ESC calibration. Replaced the bottom e-clips with circlips that support all around not just the three taps of e-clips. So far so good. Appreciate the comparison video. I expect Mini Maxx to be durable but the electronics will probably be weak like all Traxxas electronics. Will definitely upgrade to Hobbywing system.

Those parts for the Traxxas are pretty expensive. $80 for 4 shocks on a 12th scale is pretty wild. And the steering blocks are $33. You can get the whole aluminium suspension upgrade for an HPI WR8 for $99. Traxxas is the Apple of RC. Expensive as Hell and it's all proprietary. I think if you know how to shop for deals, you can get a lot more car for the money. For an extra $50 you can get a Redcat Valkyrie. Those things are amazing. I love mine. I got the monster truck. If you haven't picked up on it, I'm kinda anti Traxxas. I don't know if I'd ever buy one. In Traxxas' defense, it looks pretty bullet proof.

What confuses me is why Traxxas went with a brushed motor look on their bl2s motor can. I know it's brushless, but why they gotta style it after a brushed motor can, with the holes in it ? Makes it look cheap, and dirt can get in easily.
@JayTeeRC10 күн бұрын
Helion did that too with their models but it could do 3s. it didn't handle 3s well but the can design seems to be the same. maybe it's cheaper this way
@michaelregan42710 күн бұрын
That's because the can has a fan inside of it. Actually a nice feature they do this with lehner motors and use to with some Neu motors on request. We use this style in boats with the fan, no dirt, grit or pebbles get inside the boat. With the motor for this truck I could definitely see rocks getting in there....not good lol. Air cooling is fine for road cars boats and planes, a sealed can would be preferred here.

But there is no doubt that the Omni Terminator will offer a lot more performance with its standard 3S system and center differential. How do you compare before you actually have a Mini Max? I'm both a Traxxas Fan and Rlaaro fan, Parts are readily available for the Rlaarlo as well, you just have to wait a little longer, Rlaarlos are very well built machines, I run my AK-787s and Ak-917s Daily, never had an issue, I have both the Brushless and brushed versions of the AK-787 & AK-917, the Brushed version is the best bang for the buck brushed RC on the market, you would think it was brushless as well.

I've got and been through my fair share of rcs. I would agree the old Traxxas was garbage my first rc was a old Traxxas stampede with a stinger 20t and xl1 esc it was garbage burned up 2 motors and 1 esc just testing it in my home literally burned up in under a min. Wound up putting a Trinity motor and Novak rooster esc I believe it was to actually get to enjoy it. My newer Traxxas stuff with the velineon 3500/vxl3s speed control has been fine same for mini with 4000/vxl3m but mini had diff probs until shimmed. I have had issues out of others though too my first aarma was a 2wd granite blx with the blx85 esc which was awful bought 2 trucks and could run 2s on both trucks but not 3s like it was rated would always go into limp mode so wound up putting hobbywing escs on both. I bought a newer 4wd granite blx with a new blx100 esc and had the same problem after the years issue was still there but my aarma infraction with the spectrum firma system and dx3 remote does not have this problem. I think all brands can have issues here and there I had a team ae mgt 8.0 which the engine was more of a plane nitro and didn't really belong on that truck it never really tuned perfectly and eventually I converted it electric and on the other end of that coin I have a small team ae 14b with a reedy brushless system that works great so for me it's hit or miss they all seem to be prone to some occasional issues except my losi drag car it's been perfect from day one but again I suppose it all really depends on what you want if your ecosystem is Traxxas and you bought into the batts and chargers then you should feel right at home if not the terminator also seems like a good buy no rc is immune to not having some issues and as far as Traxxas goes I would whole heartedly agree on the old stuff being garbage with electronics but for me at least their newer stuff has been fine.
