The guy in the burgundy pants pretending to play the saxophone is the bassist John Taylor one of the founding fathers for this band. The guy thrown overboard is Andy Taylor the guitarist. The guy caught up in the net is the drummer Roger Taylor. The guy lounging in the cabin as the girls creeps by is the other Co founding father of the band; the keyboardist Nick Rhodes, and of course the blonde singing lead is Simon LeBon. They were called the second British wave (the Beatles being the first) when they came to the U.S. There was never anyone who sounded like them then and there never will be. I am definitely a Durannie (long time fan).

It REALLY did! It was such an exciting time to watch MTV videos. Younger generations today don't seem to get that. Imagine if you had never seen your favorite bands outside of playing a few TV performances like on Top of the Pops or American Bandstand, and then VOILA! MTV appears - 24 HOURS A DAY of your favorite bands, not just replaying concert footage, but actually ACTING out the storylines in their songs! It was monumental for the time. I was a preteen living in the Midwest, so this was the most amazing thing I had ever seen at the time. Even more amazing is how now in 2021 we can rewatch the original videos anytime we want and interact with other fans and the band in real time chat! I really think the younger generations take this for granted. When I was a kid and a teen, we had to literally write REAL letters to the band and mail it to the band fan club! We were lucky to get a response, and if we did, we usually got an autographed poster and other collectibles.

@@tylergirl1970 , lot's of ghost notes, about every other note. It's fast, difficult because it's repetitive, but it's not too hard, as most of it is in power chord shapes. It's one of my favorite bass lines to play. Hold Back the Rain is very similar and from that same period, and Late Bar is as well. John's writing style and playing style at that time ( for faster songs ) was to fill a song up, lots of percussive things going on. He became more of a pocket player after Seven and the Ragged Tiger LP. I'm a huge John Taylor and DD fan, love playing about everything they did on guitar, bass, and synths. The drummer is the one who got bit by the crab, Roger Taylor. Andy Taylor, the guitarist, was sent overboard. (foreshadowing) Nick Rhodes, keyboardist, is the photographer and stalkee. And our ship's captain is our frontman and our beacon through this dark world, Mr. Simon Le Bon. Thanks sooooo much for reacting to this. 🙏 p.s. the guys were just pretending to play the sax. The boat was sailed under many different owners over the next 5 decades. In 2006, Italian watchmaker Panera saw her in an English channel in a sad state of disrepair. Instantly recognizing her from Duran Duran videos Panera bought her and arranged for her to be completely restored. She was re-launched in 2009 as part of an advertising campaign for Panera. In 2012, some original members of Duran Duran were present when Eilean was featured in the classic yacht regatta in Antigua. They wept as she sailed across the finish line in all her original glory.

I LOVE Duran Duran. This is my favorite song by them. I’m excited to watch these reactions! Edit: The sax part is my favorite part! That’s the reason this is my favorite song.

Wooo! Great reaction! YES! Duran Duran! You are correct in the statement! This was definitely an MTV favorite video as was all of their other hits that made it on MTV in the 1980s! So much more to listen to and see! So much more! Peace! ✌☮

Duran duran is not Duran duran without John Taylor's bass lines. Good God is so much funk. 🤘🤘🤘
