Interesting and informative. I set up a 125 here in Denver and went with the experts, Golden Fish in Lakewood. I was loaded down and satisfied with my collection then I noticed parasites. I went to the experts for advise and product and the next day every single fish was laying dead on the substrate. The "experts" failed to tell me to give my Africans a half a dose....I still had a colony of juvenile Tropheus and moved to the country. I brought oxygenated water and set up the tank and my juvies were literally jumping out of the water and coming down dead...I was shocked...just like that I was out of the hobby!

Moorii can be housed with duboisi. But definately need colonies. Small fish - most of the lamprologus species. Julidochromis as well. Julies and steatochrimis can be kept with tropheus if shells and cover for them. Have to understand their natural niches and temperaments. Just really can’t do different morphs of moorii. Hi there, I have a Tanganyikan community tank and would like to get some tropheus once I upgrade and add to my existing colony of fish. I've already sourced where to get Tropheus moorii moliro. The community currently consists of a single 5 bar cichlid, some leleupi, some masked julies, a colony of shell dwellers (neolamprologus brevis) and a group of synodontis Petricola. I'm going to be setting up a 6ft - 125gal tank with lots of large and small rocks. I would also like to create one of those high rock hides for the tropheus near the top of the tank. I know they need an algae based diet. I'm mostly only worried about the shellies being too small with the tropheus but they hold there own against everything else and are kind of taking over haha. I did find a few tanks on some forums that had multis but those are smaller than the shell dwellers I already have. Do you think this will work? Thanks.
