Tqvm for the insights. I sold my 2007-31s for a bigger-boot sedan. Believe me, my 31s had no major issue besides just the common wear & tear (after 11 years owning it) If I had given another chance, I would definitely go for the 32s ( 2nd gen) than the 33s, less hussle and less anxiety attack if anything happen to it 'high' technology.

Yeah, there's a lot to be said for simple cars.

Weights are slightely off - ZC31S 1060 Kg MT/1070AT, ZC32S 1050 kg MT/1070 AT( 5d variant), ZC33S is correct - 970kg MT/990 AT. In general, ZC31 and ZC32 are kinda keeping the same formula, old school-like hot hatches, focusing mainly on handling, not power. Their built is simple, but robust. Suzuki originally developed 31s with a motorsport intent and it was used as a rally car back in the day in Japan and was very succesfull. With 32s, they were going in the same footsteps and it has also earned quite a reputation as rental cars on Nürburgring, capable of withstanding a lot of abuse and still going strong if well serviced. Handling for an FF car was also excellent. With 33s, they changed the whole formula, trying to catch up with modern trends and make the car more "accesable" for masses - therefore easier to drive, turbocharged downsized engine, more technology. All this at the cost of losing some of the sharpness of its predecessors. So basically as you said in the video, its more of a daily driver car. Reliability wise, all 3 cars have good reputation. Nevertheless, it is worth mentioning that naturally aspirated engines in the first 2 generations are almost bulletproof, if taken care of with regular maintanance. 1.4 Boosterjet in the 3rd one is slightely more complex engine and thanks to direct injection and turbo, is more prone to carbon built up. It needs much more attention with service and also certain behaviour - warm up/cool down the turbo and and avoid frequent short drives.

Very valid points. Interesting what you say about the 33 losing the sharpness. I would have expected it to be on par due to the lightness, but they may have tuned the electric power steering to be more dailyable rather than pin sharp?

@@Jazda I can't say from experience, I've never driven 33. All the information I mentioned comes from various sources like the Suzuki community in EU and Japan. From what I managed to find out, the steering and handling of the 33 is supposed to be more "dull", less responsive, compared to older generations. That's why I wrote that with the 33 they probably focused more on straight line speed than sharp handling like before. To be more daily driver car. But i guess this is still something only a very skilled drivers would notice. Anyway, that's what today's trends want after all, more power and easy driving - thats why 33 is so popular.

i need an opinion.. do you think going for a 2016 model used zc32s cvt with a mileage of 150k kms now available in qatar (suzuki spares are just getting available in the market). found that this car is very rare here in qatar. i believe very few will be here. so my concern is spare parts. can you please give me suggestions

I can't really comment on the Qatar car market as I'm not familiar with what brands and models are sold there (I'm in Ireland), but CVT gearboxes are generally terrible in anything other than Toyota hybrids.

I own one it's a cvt I've had it two years now and I abuse the snot out of it. Just change the cvt fluid as specified by the manufacturer. It's has a manual mode got them paddle shifters. It's still fun to drive but of course a manual will be far superior. It's not as bad as people male them to be.

5:58 less hp, lower insurance cost?

Insurance policies change so often that you'd have to get quotes on both and find out for yourself!
