i have always plucked at the bottom of the fingerboard but I am transitioning to higher up on the fingerboard.. after doin alot of recordings and listening to my tone, I felt my tone sounded like Ray Brown,McBride... ( which wasn't what I wanted ), I kinda dig the Oscar Pettiford's tone. but the great thing about all that is, I am flexible enough in switching to get different tones without thinking about it or having it get in the way of my creativity.. just like the electric bass ( bridge end - neck pickup end.. ) Jaco!!!!
