Before I forget have you checked out Max's 1977 album called 'Solos'? It is just superb! Just Max in the studio playing away. It is all on you tube and is easy to find. He does a great rendition of 'For Big Sid' and a few others you will know. I listen to that as much as his earlier work. His albums between 1958 and 1965 are my favourites. Parisian Sketches is my favourite Max album!

Very nice man! We all love Max. I love the fact that he MAXED out his own ideas melodies and orchestrations on each solo he played on. You can almost sing his melodies which makes it easier to learn. What I love about him is his use of the hi-hat ostinato. He did it al the time in 3/4 5/4 and 7/8 and had all his snare chops on top. I do lots of that and always think of MAx when I do. He was just wonderful and such a nice man too. I still miss him and always will. Keep up the great work Jameson!

Yes! That was his gift to drumming - melody. Definitely a hero!
