To me, this is pure natural talent. Not to knock on classic pianists, but i see 99% (especially asians) of people learn classic piano through repetition and systematically building on it within the frame of classical template (and im fairly certain that this guy has solid classical piano background). By no means i would dare to call it a easy feat to become a world class classic pianist, but this groove sense to me is not something that i consider to be taught through mere repetition.
@NInjatam3 жыл бұрын
you'd be surprised at how systematically you have to practice for jazz and similar styles. I agree that it relies alot more on you're own imagination and 'natural musicianship', but you have to be very rigid and precise in the way that you practice, and it most definitely can be learnt and taught.
@yaakovhassoun89653 жыл бұрын
@@NInjatam I agree with this very much. A lot of jazz pianists had taken classical lessons as children as well, the classical etudes can help develop a lot of skills, but there's a seperate set of skills needed to play contemporary styles as well, that aren't taught at all through classical training.
@owring2 жыл бұрын
This is also repetition, by definition a groove is repetition

If only piano teachers would teach this style first, more students would understand how to create their own compositions.
