That pianist! Whoa. The whole group sounds amazing!!!

Love the way Zoe Abadia uses the middle and lower register of the alto and her natural yet controlled phrasing...beautiful penetrating sound. She is a real talent and a star on the rise. Although this was done in 2014 and iam hearing this for the first time in 2019!

Beautiful sax playing, I'm definitely going to have to transcribe some of her lines! All the musicians here are absolutely mind-blowing
@gregjones29426 жыл бұрын
To all those ragging on the sax player, I wonder if you are influenced by the visuals (i.e she is not 'looking' like she is getting into it. Just listen to her playing, which is fine; she has good technique. Ears, not eyes.

Greg Jones No. her playing is boring and uninteresting.
@roosterslime94306 жыл бұрын
Vibratos, moving if you look closely, unique tone, crazy solo. What's not good about that? Like you can do better. She right now plays at Julliard with that same feel and even subs in for jazz at lincoln center, so...
@alansenzaki41485 жыл бұрын
Greg your so right. She an incredible talent. Probably only 15 or 16 years old when this was done in 2014. In 2017 she got a Temperly scholarship to Julliard! She has a beautiful deep sound and understanding of how to improvise and construct her lines.
@alansenzaki41485 жыл бұрын
Zoe has graduated from julliard spring 2018 and was picked by wynton marsalis to be in a quintet of her piers to play at art blakeys 100th birthday celebration in new york!!

Jesus lol quite a bit of butthurt people trying to bring down the sax player... They're kids for god's sake. I wish I was that musically accomplished when I was 15. All of a sudden everyone's a musical mastermind and a bitter critic who thinks that having a keyboard to type on is some sort of a granted authority . If the fact that you didn't have much of an achievement when you were in high school is the driving force behind the bitterness, it's not too late. Do something productive and build yourself up! At least they're contributing to the art and the society..... you know, playing for actual people sharing something valuable lol.

Was this good? I don't know? Did I like it? I don't know? I don't think I did. I think I thought it was awful? Jees I just don't know if I like jazz at all. At least I can turn it off, I think.
@landonbennett64228 жыл бұрын
The sax player needs to play with more feeling, this is awful.
@roosterslime94308 жыл бұрын
I'm not so sure... I like her tone. It's somewhat unique.
@tomassivhar31888 жыл бұрын
"...w more feeling... awful" ?&#&? Look I know these things are subjective, so I don't want to say you are wrong but I think you are uninformed. If your impulse is to compare this 15 - 18 yr old to Cannonball, or Arthur Blythe, or Kenny Garrett or whoever your faves are of course she comes up lacking. HOWEVER stylistically she is not even expressing that tradition as she is manifestly expressing the old West Coast jazz tradition of Lee Konitz, Paul Desmond, Art Pepper, Gerry Mulligan, Stan Getz, Chet Baker and so on. Have you even heard of those guys ??? If you had, you'd realize she is very very gifted in that pursuit and has a beautiful feel for cool jazz. Yes, maybe not smooth jazz or hard bop. Yet.
