If you approaching a wall while holding jump and you press left on the right frame de game doesn't realize the difference between a wall and floor and wants to cancel the buttstomp. By a cancelled buttstomp you can jump again. Unfortunately this is a very hard trick to do.

Are you playing this using a keyboard or controller?

I use keyboard. Personally I've never tried controller but I heard it's not very good for high level speedrunning of jj2 due to lack of fast keys for different weapons.
