It's always funny seeing a game company go from cartoon platformers to gritty shooter games. I like that Epic at least kind of remembers Jazz exists to some level, I remember seeing posters of him in some houses in earlier versions of the fortnite map but I don't know if they still do that. Great video man. Love the new model too!

Shame Epic Games basically doesn't care about anything else lately that isn't Fortnite or Unreal Engine tech related. Epic's delisted the Unreal games from all digital sale sites, and I'm surprised that Jazz hasn't suffered the same fate.

Man Jazz 2 is a personal favorite. Having gone back to play the first game it makes me happy to know it holds up. Interesting thing remember my dad having that gamepad, it also had a stick you could screw into the dpad to turn it into a joystick really weird when I think about it.

I think it looks great. Whoever did the 3d did a good job on it. The only downside is that 2d often beats 3d for facial expressions, which is why I think a lot of people prefer the old look. IMO I think a rotation of the two would keep things fresh.

Oh yeah, there's an officially endorsed patch on GOG that fixes the terribly tight platforming section in Orbitus. I believe it lets you collect all items as well. It's probably under betas. In the floppy version of JJ1, Orbitus wasn't like this, either. The CD version (which is what GOG sells too) introduced that from extending a few levels.

I owned the full-release copy of the original 1996 Jazz Jackrabbit release when I was an 8-year-old kid. I had to agree, even I couldn't have Sonic like others had I had jazz in my old 64-bit DOS PC, to play this particularly great game. If you want this game today, it's easily accessible in GOG, digital format.

Listening to this review, I realized just how similar this game, from the pros to the cons, reminds me of a game that I was fortunate enough to play: Klonoa Door to Phantomile. From the mostly balanced level design and platforming (except for the final non-boss level which has a very similar problem to Episode 2 Stage 2 Level 2 here), the very mixed boss line up, the enjoyable soundtrack, the wonderful storytelling...oh yeah, and both games star anthro rabbits.

I also had the Gravis gamepad (they were very easy to get in Canada) that controller was weird as fuck, had a little toggle on the bottom that switched the buttons and the d-pad orientation, really spongy buttons too.
