All of these "King For A Day" reaction videos are coming across my recommended and I LOVE iT! Truly such a great song for people to discover Pierce The Veil (and Sleeping With Sirens)! I think for a jazz musician, their Misadventures album is something that aligns more with that genre, but Collide With The Sky is honestly their best album they've produced. Their most recent album, The Jaws of Life, is something great to listen to as well!
@Return2TheLiving2 жыл бұрын
They are classified as Post-Hardcore but what makes them unique is they add a lot of math core elements in their early material and a lot of traditional Mexican elements throughout their career. This song is pretty devoid of those two things but a stellar track nonetheless. Unfortunately Mike (who is the drummer and Vic’s brother) has been cancelled due to some allegations and is no longer with the band. For their next album it will feature the Third Eye Blinds drummer, they were on an unspoken hiatus for about 5 years since Mikes cancelletation. Interesting tracks with great compositions I would recommend are ; “Chemical Kids and Mechanical Brides” (2007) “Yeah Boy and Doll Face” (2007) “The New National Anthem” (2009) “Bulls in The Bronx” (2012) “Disasterology” (2009) “Circles” (2016) Their newest track and first single for their upcoming album is “Pass The Nirvana” was just released less than a month ago (first new music in 6 years from the band).

@@jasonm9112 Third Eye Blinds drummer is for the album only (Source: emonite interviewed PTV a few weeks back) . For me one of the things that make Pierce the Veil is the fact that they have that latino influence, you can hear some of that on their guitars or the better example "Bulls in the Bronx" goes all out of latin/flamenco music....

The way PTV incorporate Latin American melodies and classical guitar techniques into their music makes them a ridiculous standout of the scene and IMO one of the most talented emo-adjacent bands ever. Not as obvious in this song, but trust me David, these are some talented cats! I wouldn’t wanna spoil the specific section for you, but “Bulls In The Bronx” is a huge single by them that encapsulates this perfectly. And fun fact, the red headed extra from this music video is Vic’s long term girlfriend and recently, wife! They met on the set of this video 10 years ago and just announced they are having a baby ❤️❤️

PTV and BMTH has been around about the same amount of time, both bands started around 2007, I think they both have their own sound, but also happen to be in a genre where they may have some thing in common, both bands grew on the metalcore/warped tour scene, even toured together, so I think no one of them influenced each other, just play similar music, each band with their own taste
@Return2TheLiving2 жыл бұрын
@@richardcolmenarez8205 actually Vic and Mike had a previous band together called Before Today and they were actually signed Equal Visions. Their only album was released in 2004, the sound is basically identical to what Pierce the veil is. The sonic similarities are so much that on the BF album they have a song called Pierce The Veil and on the first PTV record they have a song called Before Today and they are the same exact song. I don’t think either band knew who eachother was when they first started. If we are splitting hairs Vic and Mike had found their sound well before BMTH had gotten into the more post hardcore metalcore genre.

I went to several shows and I even got to photograph these guys during a show in Cologne in 2016. In 2012, Vic, Jaime and Tony even signed my Collide with the Sky booklet. Mike was straight away in the tour bus, though. I stayed until 1 a.m to get the artworks signed. My best friend got the signed copy of "Selfish Machines" on that day. I was at home on 3 a.m and my brother who was our driver was mad at me because he had to work later.

Also, it’s possible BMTH had influence on PTV, but this song predates even the Sempiternal album where BMTH’s affinity for electronics and pop sensibilities first came to light. Sempiternal includes Shadow Moses and Can You Feel My Heart! Influences PTV have listed over the years are very different, lead singer Vic says his dad taught him how to play guitar through jazz and blues, and the band as a whole is heavily into the crowd of NOFX, Pennywise, Bad Religion type of punk :)

I love how you say there are different approaches to writing the bridge for a song. It can build or release tension. You stopped the bridge halfway through to say they build the tension. But they were only half done. They built it AND released it. The last line of the bridge is "close your eyes and rest in peace!!" Thats not a buid up. Thats a conclusion on its own.

"The "hang ten" hand sign, also known as the "shaka" or "hang loose" sign, is a Hawaiian gesture that involves extending the thumb and pinky finger while curling the other three fingers and waving. The hand can be presented front or back, and the wrist can be rotated back and forth to emphasize the gesture. The shaka is often used to convey friendly messages, such as "hang loose", "right on", "thank you", "things are great", "take it easy", "aloha", "greeting", "gratitude", "assent", and "defusing tension". It's also commonly used to express camaraderie and is an important part of Hawaiian culture and the surfing community."
