Hey Julian, I used to be a professional (classical) musician most of my life. I’ve been to a professional music school, got private lessons, studied music science at a university here in Germany,.. I changed my profession to Management couple of years ago but my heart will forever beat for music, so I continued playing on my own :) Playing jazz always seemed hard to me as a classical player so listening to your video and your calm and patient way of explaining helped me a lot. This video seems like the beginning of a new era to me. I will start applying your Tipps and technic. I’m happy I’ve found your video and that you didn’t start explaining everything about music from ground zero so people that have general knowledge like me can go further. Thanks a lot and much love from musician to musician ☺️👋🏼❤️ Hita

I think you are an excellent teacher, I remember seeing one of your videos years ago in which you talk about how you learnt teansposing by first leaning to play everything in C minor and Eb major for a longer period of time. I feel considerably comfortable to transpose most basic and some intermediate things into the ley of C major and/or A minor, and what I'm doing nowadays is I played everything in the key of A major and/or in F# minor in January, and this month February I am playing everything in the key of B major and/or G minor, and next month in March I'm gonna play everything in the key of B major and/or G# minor, etc... And I got some significant improvement already in my tranapoaing skills in these 2 keys. I chose to go chromatically (instead of going through the circle of fifth by raising 1 # in every next month) because I don't want my "finger-muscle-memory" get confused by the too much similarity between for example the key of C major and G major, or between the key of D major and A major, (my "finger-muscle-memory" thinks like this: "Oh, D major and A mojr feels very similar, I wonder if they are the same key... hmm... yes I think they are the same key, so let's just play them exactly the same way." and then the wrong notes are comming..) By learning chromatically my "finger-muscle-memory" will think every time: "Oh, this is a very different key from the previous key, let's remember the new differences!" and it won't get confused and there is goint to be way less chance for wrong notes.

(EDIT: Instead of "B major and/or G minor" I meant to write "Bb major and or G minor" .)

I'm having challenges practicing iib5, V7alt, imaj/min7 AROUND THE CIRCLE OF FOURTHS alternating between scales in left hand and chords in right hand, and scales in right hand against chords in left hand because to play unbroken (musically) requires large (hand/finger pattern disrupting) jumps of hands intermittently while trying NOT to use registers too extreme. Is there a "secret" to learning this? I really want to master both the 2, 5, 1's AND do it around the circles(4,5). Hope my question makes sense. Good to see you back. One day I'm going to attempt your "Single Key" transposing technique from way back.Thx.
