@@TonyWinston I'd like to take some lessons from you, using tunes I'm currently performing in my one man show J. Lorder, J. Sample, T. Schumann, etc.) to practice/discuss improv techniques, chord/scale relationships, etc.

Thank you - this is really educational. I like your presenting style of helpful analysis of the thought processes behind your voicings and scale choices. Great demo at the end!.

Thanks Dean. I wish I had time to find more. I can't quite seem to make a decent classical video but I'm working on it.

@@TonyWinston I'd like to see a classic college vid on Chopin's Nocturn in C# minor, especially that run he does down on those dominant chords, is that a diminished or an altered run?

Great tutorial as always! I wasnt sure if Abo7 and Ab0 were different. I started by using the f for the seventh and erroneously switched to f#, but I tlooks like f is the seventh for both. Thanks!

Hmm Im playing that Fm7 to the Bb7 you mentioned that its the same and tried the Fm6 to the E7 and it seemed pretty cool but then there was an f in the melody over an Em7 and that is a flat nine and not sounding good but if dropped bass to the b7 then its like a G7 to a Em7 when the f in melody goes to e

Great as usual!!! Incredible of clarity even for early beginners. I do appreciate you speak both about jazz and classical music. I suppose Bach is the composer of the piece you play at the end of this video, may I know the title of this piece? Thank you so much for all!

Hi. I have a jazz degree and am returning to playing after a 10 year break. Thank you so much for this, it is so helpful. I wonder what boxology is? Seems like another way of looking at substitutions? I will research .
@TonyWinston
@TonyWinston 5 ай бұрын
Box voicings are rootless voicings (mostly) . I now refer to them as shape voicings. Each shape can function as many different chords. F A B E can be a G7(9,13) , Dm6/9, Db7(#5,#9) and more.. search my channel , you'll find plenty on this
