From an experienced player in the jazz band, you will not regret that decision.

Jazz is awesome, I recommend that if youre a clarinet to learn saxophone, you can do it pretty easily.

This is one of the best high school jazz band recordings I have ever heard, and I have heard a ton of them. Great job to the students and the director!

Aaron Bush was the director of my middle school’s band before he switched to Foxboro. I started middle school the year after he left so I unfortunately never got to experience this, but I have heard many tales of this man from my upperclassmen friends.

I think the first solo is not improvised. My guess is it's a head arrangement by Emma, possibly based on the attractive solo by Jimmy Hamilton on the 1951 Ellington recording. Not to take anything away from Emma - improvised or not, that's a superb piece of clarinet playing....

Most Essentially Ellington solos are just the original Ellington solos but on steroids. Wynton Marsalis puts an emphasis on the tradition of it

This is a high school band? Wow, they are tight and everyone sounds great. The Saxes and that clarinet... I did jazz band in HS in the 1960s (clarinet and alto sax) and we did not sound anywhere near that good.
@kevinmurphy5878 Жыл бұрын
The guitar was quite tasteful. And that clarinet was foul. Wow
