Pianist and composer Steven Feifke outlines specific arranging techniques in Jazz to hear as you listen to records, or as you try to create your own arrangements.
In Part 1, the band performs Feifke's original piece "3:23 AM" in full. In Part 2, he breaks down specific arranging techniques he uses in the composition.

i love how most instruments came in with strong, obvious entrances like tenor and alto, but others, specifically guitar and flugelhorn just melted into the texture, as if they were there from the start

I like to take from Count Basie and just have riffs that lead to solos. Easy charts LOL but they work!
