JazzBaltica 2015: Marcin Wasilewski Trio & Joakim Milder

I’ve been a lifelong jazz drummer and devoted to the music. Over the years my favorite pianist has been Bill Evans along with Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, among others. But after hearing this trio, it has changed my life. I first became aware by accidentally hearing Suldovian Dance and wondering what is this. So I listened again and again and realized I wanted to hear more and found this trio. I listened to their historical video on how they first got started and how Tomasz Stanko mentored them and it has changed my life. I can’t get enough of them-absolutely phenomenal. It’s hard to listen to anyone else.

I am a huge Jazz fan and have been lost in the past of jazz greats like Bill Evan, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, etc. These guys stand tall with the greats of the past. The life and passion of the compositions has me in awe. I can't get enough.

Wasilewski is a very talented and innovative pianist. I was delighted to discover his art watching him perform in an earlier Thomas Stanko concert [2003, "Alina"] on KZbin. These YT Euro jazz concerts are such a gift, and [at least for me?] uninterrupted by adverts.

Beautiful! But you should really mix the piano and drums in stereo. The sound is very narrow now. It's harder to get lost in the music...
