Some people say, and maybe even you, that exercises like this are not musical. I respectfully disagree. And, what's amazing also is that you can make it relevant for all instruments. Thank you, so much.

Thank you for this great exercise. I have been trying to play these on the guitar for a couple of days now. First I tried to do it with maximum stretch with only the bottom two strings (B and E), then I tried to do them with as less movement on the fretboard as possible. It really provided me with a big insight on the triad positions on the fretboard and how I can switch between them. I think it also helps keep up with chord changes and makes me sound like I actually know what I am doing during a solo. It is training my ear and making me internalise the sound of triads also. I really appreciate this video.

Super solid lesson, this one. It shows how you can use all twelve notes in the context of very basic diatonic harmony by utilizing chromatic neighboring tones to approach the chordal tones of the harmonic progression you’re working in. And just so you don’t get shackled to groupings of 3 and 4 note patterns, throw in 5’s, 6’s, and 7 note patterns, and that ought to feel like a weekend furlough from prison. Or, even an early release! Taste the freedom.

Thanks for this really nice exercise. I've been working with just the first line of the first exercise for a day or so, and I can see how it could really help with my awareness of the harmonic functionality of each note in the scale. I also have been taking the ascending part of the first exercise and playing each ascending triplet in descending scale order -- CEG, BDG, ACF, GCE, etc.
